I like this boy. He is young, developing well. Seems a little injury prone so his Everton career is a little stop start. Once he has had a couple of games in a row he always seems more than capable of being a permanent starter. If he can stay fit, Seamus will be his back up again like he was earlier in the season

Patterson ideally needs a season on loan in the championship for me. I think he could develop quickly there, he has been thrust into the first eleven at times this season due to our poor transfer decisions and has had his ups and downs- he was dreadful for a period before and after the World Cup.

I was pleasantly surprised yesterday with him. With Coleman’s injury I do think we need another right back in the summer. If we survive and thinking of our budget I wouldn’t be adverse to getting Walker peters in from soton.
I do think Patterson suffered from not being fully match fit. He was injured, had a break during the WC etc. He has still not played that much senior football. What gets you fit to play senior football is to play regular senior football.

No one would have seen this McNeil in September… and I say this as someone who routinely defended him.

Patterson I think was promising. Nervy 15 mins but after he got to grips with Mitoma he stopped being their outball.

That’s what’s most promising. I’ve watched Godfrey Holgate Keane just give up and drop their heads as soon as attackers get the run on them and their whole game goes to pot.

Patterson got the run around a few times early on but he just battled on and by the end of it Mitoma just gave up and started coming short infield and Patterson was making him go the other way.

We need more of that mentality throughout the team.

Delighted for the lad. could have went into his shell after tricky start but showed real quality and had a good game. Young and raw. Needs us fans to support him rather than write him off.

Unpopular opinion - Grelish is a one trick pony
I thought that for a long time. This season he's been outstanding. He's learned to defend as well as attack.

He wasn't worth £100M but he's a very good player. Patterson will need to keep his wits about him and Mina will have to get over and help him out.

A handful of good appearances is all it takes? McNeil has been as hot and cold as Patterson across the season (considering Patterson started well whereas McNeil started poorly)
Nah. No chance. McNeill has been excellent on more than a handful of occassions.

If Patterson makes the breakthrough that McNeill has we'll all be rewarded for it.

Offensively - show him outside and don’t let him cut in to his right foot.

Dead easy, right?? lol

It was, in fact, the other way around.

Coleman was recovering from an operation and so Patterson stood in.
