he kept getting the ball in our own half to start uh something but kept on holding his arms like there was absolutely no one to pass to.
IDK if that's on him or the formation.
Q: are our wingbacks allowed to press up?Yep, stood their throwing a hissy fit when any competent wingback would have ran upfield with the ball.
Correlation is not causation as they say. There are a lot of factors that influence results, which you are completely not taking into account such as the team we are playing, the formation used, subs etc.
For example I could point to the Newcastle game where Patterson came on as a sub at 0-0, and then we scored 3 goals and won. I am not going to attribute the win and scoring of all 3 goals to Patterson (though I’ve no doubt plenty would do if they could use it against him and even though he did assist Beto for the 3rd) but you see how easily you can make a link between things that aren’t directly related?.
Results are a team game. No one player directly is responsible for them.
Onana did that a fair few times as well when going short for the ballYep, stood their throwing a hissy fit when any competent wingback would have ran upfield with the ball.
I agree with that.
But, It's not going to make me change my mind that right back is a position of concern and one of the first new signings we should make.
Young and Coleman are too old and Patterson hasn't lived upto his potential.
You don’t have to change your mind. Don’t start bullshit posts with made up “facts” to try have a go at players though.
It’s made up because as I said, you attributing those wins to Ashley Young playing, when those things are coincidences, not caused. How is it made up when its true?
Both appeared in 6 wins and 2 draws. Patterson has 3 more losses, but they are essentially the last 3 games. And I’m not sure Young would have been the game changer we would need in those games. But as a team with Young as rightback we get better results.
The results prove that unfortunately.

If you were only stating he played in those 9 wins, that would be ok, but you know that you were inferring it was because he was playing, and that is not true.

Hard to quantify what role they have played in those points considering, for example, Young getting a red card vs Liverpool. So Patterson came on and we had to play with 10. So whose fault is that loss most likely to be on?
Essentially neither have been good enough. But only 1 of them is likely to improve with games. If Coleman can do a job, great, but he is far from up to speed and I fear his body is struggling with the demands.
Q: are our wingbacks allowed to press up?
Yes we have done.I said when Ashley Young starts at Rightback instead of Patterson we get better results.
It's not made up though, It's true.
Yes we have done.
But again, there’s many factors affecting that, not just whether it’s one or the other of them playing. Like today for example, Young isn’t going to have magically changed our whole game plan, we still would have been destroyed through midfield and repeatedly overrun.
It’s a team game and putting it all onto the RB like some are trying to do is insane.
