Joey, you cant teach a defensive mindset. You have it or you don't.

I remember Stones when he was here and I said at the time he was never a top class defender and that he looked a central midfielder like Carrick.

To me Patterson is a wide player. Play him there or nowhere...certainly nowhere near a defence.

The jury is in. Never mind he's 22 years old and 'needs to develop'. You cant plait sawdust.
You post wham a out most players - your losing credibility

lol

No use looking to a RB marking no one who was ahead of Cunha and then saw him accelerate ahead of him to sweep the ball into the net where a RB should have been?

Ok.
New Years Wish 🙏

Time to take a break m8,
you're hatred of the lad has gone way way too far.

You're never gonna like the lad or give him a bit of respect however he performs as a player.

It's time to just ease off the lad.

This Thread has just become wrong on too many Reasons....

Seamus looked like a wide attacking player, then went on loan to Blackpool and started to learn how to be a defender and craft both sides of his game.

You could be right but there’s still time for him to improve. It’s difficult to do it in a top league while playing for a team struggling at the bottom.

They know they have a liability alongside them, so they can’t focus on their own game.

He brings the whole team down to his level.

I feel sorry for Keane, he’s just not very good at defending and staying switched on, but keeps getting put in the firing line by the manager.

If I’d play him anywhere it would be as a cf, as far away from our box as possible.

To be fair, the whole team was really poor. But I think Keane just unnerves people, including the fans which will be felt by the players. We always look shakier at the back when he plays.

See this is what a lot of people (including Pickford it seems) feel about Patterson

What, cause he had a go at him once on the pitch? Which he does at all of our defenders? Tarkowski even talked in an interview about it a few weeks ago.

Have you never watched our games before?

Honest question mate why do you defend him so much? You seem totally blinded to any faults.

You clearly don’t read my posts. I don’t blame him for goals or fees that aren’t his fault. I’ve said many times he has been poor and has been disappointing but also that he needs time and support, as all young players do.

Im not blinded. I don’t like wums and liars. And you have presented yourself as both in this thread.

Imagine getting a transfer to a big English club for megabucks [in Scottish money] only to still find yourself behind 47 year old Seamus Coleman and 63 year old Ashley Young in the pecking order, all things being equal. Wonder what he must be thinking lol

I've seen nothing to recommend him as a FB that can play in a back 4.

People still saying he's learning, but I see no evidence of it. The same failure to stay alert when danger is about, never proactive and always reacting too late.

He's had Cole, Baines and Coleman to learn from. He's shown no aptitude to defend. The lad on the other side is a far more accomplished player and he's been in the PL just as long as he has.
