It does matter to him sadly.
First clean sheet since January
….i think i read Pickford had one of the best clean sheet record in the league this season. Not sure if that’s right, but if it is then perhaps we should be concentrating away from the back four.
….Young is playing right wing.
Sadly it’s 2024 and the job of a full back is more than defending on the edge of their own box.
Yes, I would play Patterson on the right wing ahead of 40 year old codger Ashley Young.

Yep, a full back needs to be up and back both ends of the pitch, we need to be creating more chances but we have no options out wide where a full back would normally be as Myko and Young/Godfrey/Coleman don't offer anything. To counter that though Patterson has made a couple of errors this season (other players have to I know) and we don't look terrible at the back. I don't know if there's a correct answer. I do know what the answer is though, Dyche isn't going to pick him, because Dyche isn't going to let the fullbacks play forward.
…I get that but Patterson is hardly Carlos Alberto. A great cross for the Danjuma goal but other than that I think he’s been a huge disappointment in the attacking third.
Somebody posted on here that Mykolenko hasn’t provided one PL assist. Amazing if true, yet nobody is talking about him only defending on the edge of his box.

Have you gone into his thread? There is plenty of talk about him getting forward (or not).
Dyche does not seem to like the fullbacks getting too far forward, and a lot of the time the defensive tactics are for the fullbacks to come narrow, so they dont provide as much width. So it’s hard to judge any of our fullbacks for their offensive contributions.
(Patterson is the only full back we have played who has any assists with 2 which equals garner, is more than DCL and doucoure, and is only one less then Harrison who was playing virtually every game until recently)

Exactly this. Wish the lad all the best. Realistically will be on a loan now and hopefully we can recoup some cash. A defender has to be able to defend and Nath needs to get back to basics on that front them he can potentially have a decent career.
…weird, before the points deduction I recall Mykolenko getting into the box plenty. I agree we don’t see him hitting the bye-line like a conventional full-back but Patterson produced that great cross for Danjuma and Coleman/Young get plenty of balls into the box from the top third.
When Burnley last beat us at their place, their LB tore Kenny a right one, he was like Grealish.

Beginning of season they did, but that's a long time ago now and we've got more and more pragmatic under Dyche.

We did early in season. But Dyche has resorted to type and gone very defensive over the last few months. We are not creating or getting our fullbacks forward in the same way at all.
And young and Coleman’s crossing is pretty poor. If we want a fullback to be getting forward, and providing more, then it’s Patterson every day.
Young has made 87 crosses in the league this season. None of which have led to a goal. Patterson has made 29 and has 2 assists.
What is very evident is that Rangers absolutely had Everton’s pants down getting 10m for this lad.
