But that potential is only useful if it’s potential to become a good player for us in the future that’s what I’m trying to say. If he has the potential to be better than Coleman and young were at their best then that’s great but just having the potential to get a bit better than he is now isn’t enough of an upside to be factored in. What it comes down to is I haven’t seen much in him to get excited about and some people apparently have that’s all.

If he's not worse than anyone else we have in that position and has the most potential to improve in it then they're surely the only things that should be factored in

If/when we sign someone who's clearly better than him in that position then that will cease to be the case

No because like I’ve just said if his potential isn’t good enough to be our long term first choice then his potential makes no difference maybe if I talk about his potential bbc website ratings you’ll understand better?

I fully understand your point

I obviously disagree with it

…..I had it in mind Lampard wasn’t keen and even picked Kenny ahead of him but I’ve probably got that wrong.

Whether he has ‘earned his place’ is a moot point, a matter of opinion but we’ve been around the block and back on that one.

(Did you suggest we go for the lad who played LB for Newcastle last night? Somebody on here did, and last night confirmed to me how ordinary he is. He runs like he’s got a bag of spanners in his shorts.)

Yes i think hes a good player. Expect he'll be England youth sides left back and get into the full squad in the next 3 years.

No you're right Lampard started him 14 times in 44 games and Dyche has started him 17 times in 49 games so no difference really in how much anyone has seen in him but Dyche is ruining his career he'd be the best right back in the league if only someone would play him.

When Lampard first came in (just after Patterson had signed) he chose our more established players in Kenny but mainly Coleman.

At the start of last season, Patterson started the season as our RB and only got dropped when he got injured when Coleman came in. When Patterson was fit, he came back into the team before he got injured again.

Lampard last season, favoured Patterson but he got a couple of injuries. Lampards first half season with us he favoured experience.

It’s a myth being peddled on here that all of pattersons previous managers didn’t rate him.

Under Lampard Patterson played when he wasnt:

A: Injured
B: Coming back from injury and Coleman was doing well enough to keep him out.

Otherwise he played.

As for potential, he does have the potential to improve.

He is also superior to all the other right backs at the moment.

So he should be played as:

1: Hes the best right back at the club
2: He has the potential to improve further.

Its actual madness that hes not playing.

You really are a disgusting individual trying to blame that on a 22 year old lad. Just own your agenda driven hate and the reasons behind it.

Pathetic.

Calm down or is this the bucky talking? No hate whatsoever. As I've said numerous times I actually like the kid personally. He's different from the other stupid purchases of the Moshiri era in that, in your own words, he was bought for potential at a time when the "here and now" approach was the order of the day. And he was bought after a handful of games as a sub for a minor team in a minor league. It literally makes no sense. That's all I'm saying. No hate.

…I don’t feel sorry for him at all. Defence has been the least of our problems and it’s up to Patterson to earn his place.

Totally agree that Dyche clearly doesn’t rate him but neither has previous managers. He’s a full-back so shouldn’t be an option for the right side midfield berth but I felt he could’ve done no worst than Young yesterday, but I suppose Dyche was again vindicated when Young earned us the penalty.

This is it. And an opinion shared by most Blues in the real world that actually go to the game.

The fact that he isn't getting is sniff is absolutely deliberate by the way. Clear as anything that Dyche has iced him out 🤦‍♂️

Rubbish. Ask yourself why would he do that? Managers dine off unearthing or developing a player for years afterwards if they get it right with a young player. This is conspiracy thinking gone mad.

You completely contradict yourself here. You start off trying to make out it’s different from the stupid purchases, ergo not a stupid one, but then make it sound bad because of where he came from.

Like Carlisle were an enormous team for Branthwaite. Or Milwall for Cahill. Or Rangers for Arteta…

Just stay out of this thread. You’re poisonous, transparent, no one likes you & you offer nothing useful across the whole forum.

What are you on about Bucky for? Fed up of your lies pretending you like him. Everyone sees through it. And this thread only ever starts up when you come on, surprise surprise.

Do you consider every team in the SPL to be minor?

No it was different from the other stupid purchases in being supposedly one for the future but it was similarly ill advised. And what's with the personal abuse? Totally uncalled for. I want the best for this player and the Club and am entitled to comment in a civil manner. That's what a forum is for. As stated numerous times I've no agenda and like the lad as I've liked various other Rangers players down the years. He clearly needs a loan to the championship to get a run of confidence and we go from there.
