This seems likely, and maybe The Process isn't what it's cracked up to be.
What the Sixers did was fine. It probably was unnecessarily bad but getting two allstars who can't play with each other and losing a #1 pick because of bizarre injuries isn't an indictment of the process imo.

Back to this, I think it's a legitimate concern. His shooting outside of 3 feet is terrible, which means his shooting is terrible. And his FT % is near 58 % which is turrble (Shaq, for his career, shot near 53%*). I've not watched Simmons closely because I don't watch Philly if there's another option, but I listen and read a lot and his reluctance to take spot jumpers and drives that would get fouls (because his shooting confidence is low) comes up a lot. This take could be entirely wrong, but I don't think it is. And I'm not anti-Simmons, the bit about Zion already being better than him is just a little Yanking yer chain. But he does need to figure out his shot or t-r-o-u-b-l-e.

*Wilt was near 52%, but Ben ain't Wilt, and he doesn't play in the 60's NBA

There’s no coincidence since Embiid has been injured his numbers have skyrocketed. The thing is it’s not necessarily that he’s a bad shooter it’s just that he won’t shoot. I personally think that’s fine and if he moves to a franchise where he’s surrounded by shooters and he can play like a power guard almost with just a big man to mop up he’ll flourish.

‘The Process’ is Embiid’s nickname mate haha.
It's also the name for the 76ers strategy of being the worst team for 5 years to accumulate assets. I thought he was talking about that.

If he's talking about Embiid specifically I would say he's off the mark because Embiid is a great player and as I said the fit stinks. Him and Simmons are both hurt by it.

Yes, I mean the years of bagging it and then potentially mismanaging all of the picks and players and getting nothing out of it.

The really killer thing was not taking Tatum. And maybe you can argue that they should have taken Ingram over Simmons since the fit with Embiid was better. But it wasn't that far away from working, which is why the NBA changed the lottery.

I can't keep up with all of their picks--that's a full time job--but a quick glance shows these recent 76ers draft picks:

2011 -- Vucevic -- good player, involved in the Igoudala trade
2012 -- Harkless -- Igoudala trade
2013 -- Carter Williams -- no good
2014 -- Embiid -- good player
2014 -- Payton -- traded for Saric + picks
2015 -- Okafor -- no good, now playing with Pels
2016 -- Simmons -- good player
2016 -- Luwawu-Cabarrot, Korkmaz -- who? and who?
2017 -- Fultz -- traded
2018 -- Bridges -- traded
2018 -- Shamet -- traded
2019 -- Thybulle -- acquired via trade (looks like a good player...)

Plus tons of seconds, most of whom I'm not at all familiar with

The core they have, with the exception of Horford, is entirely constructed through wheelings and dealings with those picks. And if Embiid and Simmons weren't the worst possible fit outside maybe pairing either with Giannis, they'd be in with a real chance at the title. Maybe give someone other than Brett Brown a chance.

Okafor is a great centre he just had his problems. Playing really well this season.

It's unfortunate the Simmons and Embiid play too similarly. And it's not like they've got nothing in return for all their efforts, but I guess my conclusion to all of this is that playing FM/NBA2K is a lot easier than being an actual DOF/GM.

Of their current roster, I know none of the kids besides Thybulle, who looks like a good player. Tobias Harris is solid, but they owe him a lot of cash for a long time, and I'm not sure if that will be a burden to them. I think Horford was a good add, but they'll still owe him when we'll have changed our minds on this. And unless they dump a big contract, can they re-sign Richardson? I don't think they're a bad team, but unless/until Simmons develops a shot, I can't see them winning 2 playoff series in the same postseason.

Okafor is talented and looks like he can play a useful role, but he's not getting minutes in that depleted NOLA lineup, and a 1.01 should be good enough to get minutes.

It's quite a deep position with Favors, Jahlil and Hayes. He's sorted out his sleeping and all sorts in the Summer. People forget how great he was at the 76ers in his first year.

There were definitely issues with his days at the 76ers, and that GM/twitter burner story is great even if it's scary psycho, but even if the Pels are favoring developing Hayes over playing Okafor, he's 24 and in his 5th (?) season and if he was going to be something you'd think it would be visible now. No 5 year vet (especially a 1.01) should be giving up minutes to a rookie, even if he was 1.10 (?). Maybe it's a system/fit issue and they don't have minutes for the role Okafor plays, but what I'm saying is if he were that good, someone would create minutes and a role for him.

They have a lot of hard decisions to make but having good players at least makes those decisions reasonable. The accumulate assets strategy does seem to work but the way the Sixers bottomed out is unnecessary. I'm interested to see what the Thunder look like in 3 years as they're doing the same thing but still fielding a winning team in the meantime.
