Firstly I don’t think a single person on here loves maupay , I certainly don’t at best he’s probably below average . For me that’s not 442 , a tall attacking midfielder pushed up who won 4 aerial duels (including those in the middle of the pitch ) in the whole game and had only a couple of shots just doesn’t constitute 442 obviously you disagree and we’re all entitled to our opinions .
I’d like to see onana’s heat/touch map for the game to see which way it points us

I didn’t do it just pinched it when I lazily googled it .
I’m assuming the one next to maupay is simms when he came on and the one smack in the middle is gana . Appreciate it’s an assumption but that’s my guess .
however I’m more confident to take a chance and say the one at the very back is Pickford .

Yup, Thelwell's Cenk Tosun was the wrong player, who's now probably gone down a notch in confidence and understanding a new role / manager at the same time.
The compound issues of poor recruitment. On the whole the others have done well and I've had to re-appraise the merits of having Gana back too - he's done pretty well and I thought he was spent.
We need legs up front, and for Dyche to beast Maupay into buzzing around the box being a pain in the arse, and maybe he can bang in 4-5 before the season's out. What I trust with Dyche is that an expectation of Maupay's work rate and understanding his role will not be the issue.
So if he fails, it really owes to a combination of ability, our system and his application.
Right now we need legs, he can make runs. And a goal can transform players mentally, and suddenly McNeil and Iwobi have options and are fizzing it into him more often etc.
We didn't buy anyone so roaring on this lad, whilst DCL gets fit, and Simms is our way forward.
And what I love most about Everton is what the 2021/22 season showed - if there's even a glimmer of getting that out the lad, Goodison Park can make it happen.

Just not true that mate, he pushed on to win a few headers but he was never in the box on the end of balls. He pushed on further than gana and doucoure on the odd occasion purely due to his size, in general play it was doucoure who was the furthest forward

Hasn't once been able to play next to a fit DCL since he signed..
You'd argue though that, based on the squad's current makeup, the 4-5-1 (4-4-1-1) system is probably our best bet now anyway.
Sorry, I'm a poor NHS worker, had to let my Sky and BT sport go. But it's true if we don't get in the position to score, we won't score. Not rocket science.

I’d agree he’s better than a goal a season but we need someone who can make a real impact with their goals, in the way Richarlison did. Maupay’s not that player, although I think he’d look better in the Championship. That narky streak in him might be more use there.

Surely Dyche will be pressing Thelwell to move him on. Could hardly pick a player less suited to Dyche’s style. You’d think the player would be open to moving as well.
£8 million isn’t a terrible deal for someone playing a style that suits him (whatever that is) as a backup striker.
Please, please sell him - you’re getting my hopes up that there’s a deal to be done.
