I don't think he is, but, we have seen him win balls both on the ground and in the air on occasion. I think he is a terrible option, but, thanks to the ineptitude of our recruitment, he is probably the best option we have. He is also, if his record out on loan is to be considered, capable of finding the net regularly, albeit at a lower level of football. He also is a physical presence and although he doesn't put himself about as much as he should for a man of his size he does at least have the physical attributes, if Dyche can unlock that side of his game.

As I said, I don't think he is a good option whatsoever, I just think he may well be the least bad option. Either way we may as well give him a chance now, we are hardly going to be less toothless with him replacing Maupay.

Yeah it's the bold bit I'm thinking a lot of us will misjudge.

I've no idea whether Simms is a better choice because I've not seen enough of him - inclined to think Maupay at the moment though just because we know he can score at this level - Maupay hit double figures (albeit 10...) league goals at Simms age in the Prem, so it's a tricky one IMO.

Maupay isn't atleast overawed by the occasions, whereas Simms worries me on the nervous pressure he will put on himself.
If Doucs or onana could just contribute with putting away chances then you could work around Maupays misgivings.
That said our whole midfield should be adding more.

Who out of Maupay, Simms or gray can take a defender out of play.
Only gray will really scare a CB enough to make him vacate his position.
But we still need to then rely on a midfielder being able to make the most of it.

Maybe we have to try 4-4-2 with gray and maupay.
But then we're open for a stuffing.

Not good times to be an Everton manager. Let alone a supporter!!

I don’t know if managers are scared of getting stick for doing it, but you don’t get the big centre half going up front as much these days. Michael Keane would genuinely offer more than Maupay in this system.
Well he does have a twin who is by Proffession a CF.
Stranger things 'haven't' been done.
But we are desperate...

I see what you mean, but, we know what Maupay can do or not do in this team, he's had about 20 matches and scored once, plus nothing sticks to him up there. The real problem lies with Thelwell and the board, it almost criminal that we have gone 2 windows without signing a reasonable target man who gets the odd goal and leads the line, nothing outstanding, almost like a Calvert Lewin stand in...so,taking into account that Maupay has already proved he is not capable of the job we are asking him to do, why not give somebody else a chance for a little run of games? We won't be any worse will we?

Iwobi away with the fairy’s there, didn’t support Maupey and wasn’t doing anything defensive / out of any sort of position, leaving the door open for 2:1 counter against coleman.
