He played more wide and off wellbeck at brighton who was the main lead the line forward. So of course when calvert lewin was fit(no laughing at the back) what did we do with maupay? We stuck him on the bench. And only seemed to play him as a direct replacement for calvert lewin.
Just leads you to look at Everton and wonder if a single thought goes into it when recruiting players.
Sometimes. Occasionally Potter used him as a lone striker and it went just about as well as it is going for you guys.

I have to be honest, when he joined you I thought it was a good fit. He ran for days, fired up the crowd and scored some really nice goals for us. The problem was always twofold with us - can’t play back to goal and missing easier chances than the ones he scored.

Having watched a handful of his games for you since his transfer, I am shocked at the decline of the player. He looks absolutely bereft of confidence, has lost more than a yard of pace and is poor in front of goal even by his own standards.

FWIW having also seen Forest and Leeds games in recent weeks, I think you’ll stay up. But I’d be very concerned if he was starting for you going forward; he has lost everything that made him an (albeit lower league) Premier League footballer since his move.

I can see a foreign move like Turkey or back to France for Neal in the summer, probably best all round to cut your losses on this one unfortunately.

Best of luck for the rest of the season.

To be honest I don't follow football that generally and I don't know much about other teams players. But I remember a little while back a few of my mates were saying how good Brighton could be if they ever bought a striker that would convert the chances they create. Lo and behold, Everton spend £15m on this non scoring striker. We're run by idiots.

A lot of posts on Brighton were saying the same thing past 2 seasons.

No. And in a different team where we didnt expect him to lead the line he'd have his moments. He contributed well to his previous clubs.
Need to start looking at ourselves a bit more and how we recruit.
I'm talking about us only and not what he's done previously.
