I think it's quite unlikely he starts finishing. There are 2 or 3 years of data that show hes not very good at that. He does a lot of other things well though. It's not perfect, but it's a big improvement on a half fit Dominic Calvert-Lewin, or a peak Rondon.

Well I'd love that to be the case mate, but I'd be surprised. DCL was much younger, and had a much higher ceiling. At 26, I'm not sure Maupay will become a good finisher.

That being said, I think he will do ok for us, and is a good signing.

You’re almost certainly right. I’d love us to get one of those transfers, though, where everything clicks and it looks like an absolute steal.

I must admit it was in before I saw it mate!

I'm not sure 1 goal means hes a great finisher though. I hope he keeps banging them in though.

What I like is that it came from something I can’t see anyone else in our squad doing/trying: that quick, close control and early hit. Even if he tries that often without loads of success, it becomes one more thing to worry defenders and drag them out of position.

I know inflation has gone a bit wild of late, but I’m not sure our transfer spending quite fits into the “shoestring” category this year!!

It was the lot though mate, his first touch was, dare i say Maupayesque!

Absolutely. I loved the way he took the shot on early, and we should do it more.

Looked good in the training video, I particularly liked how he stood behind Rondon, probably whispering "you're done here".

That’s not Rondon in the picture. It’s a training dummy. Your confusion is understandable as they move about the same speed.
