Was obvious pretty much as soon as he looked miles out of his depth (essentially as soon as we'd seen him on the field for us) that we'd never be able to sell him for money.

After all, has any other non-elite club (ie
those that really cannot afford continuous expensive mistakes) spent about £150m on attacking players and recouped absolutely nothing at all and ended up releasing them all after loads of unsuccessful loan spells?

I guess one single exception - Iwobi, who I'm still gobsmacked we were able to sell for decent money.

Maupay would be amongst the top scorers if he moved down to the Championship. He got 25 goals in 43 appearances the last time he was in the Championship. He also scored double the amount of PL goals as Beto last season, and one less PL goal than Dominic Calvert-Lewin last season.

His wages may be an issue; he may also be the type that is happy to facilitate his own free transfer in a year's time. But I don't consider Maupay unsellable. I think there will be interest in acquiring his services, and I expect him to be sold this summer tbh. Not for mega money, but for several million pound more than zero.

The player heimself stated he wanted another team, he felt the prem was not his bag .....or us for that matter.....
