They fully deserved it back, shouldn't have to have abuse shouted at them by their own 'fans'.

Don't care what the dynamic is, you give it and you should expect it back.
If only they showed the same passion and fight out on the pitch eh?

I'm not condoning those fans at all, but we have been taken for a proper crowd of mugs for long enough imo.

There was a few verbals obviously but no player was physically attacked.

This club has been run into the gutter people are angry, and that anger will manifest itself in various ways sadly.

He's made a rod for his own back due to being a massive keyboard warrior bellend instead of a professional footballer. Now every bad first touch or perceived lack of effort will be jumped all over by a large number of fans.

In fairness, I'd not have the audacity to publicly claim I'm being abused by those whose hard earned money pays my unjust and unfairly high salary. I don't think somebody calling me a rat from 5 metres away would be deemed bad abuse, even though it's not pleasant and a bit embarrassing for the families of those fellas concerned.

Sooner he's gone the better.

I don’t see how he can be on the bench at the next game at goodison.

He’s a narcissist and taking the p out of the club who pays his wages.

If he had any value he’d be subbed on in the last two games.

Exactly right. I've never before seen an Everton player take the p out of the club in such a public way. His statements while he was out on loan - knowing that there was a high likelihood of him returning to Goodison - now trying to become a warrior for hurt and upset footballers because he was called a rat by some drunk fellas.

As far as I know there haven't been any death or physical threats to him, nor has anybody abused him due to his nationality, religion or appearance.

IMO, as genuinely unpleasant as it is, it's absolutely realistic to expect working-class men to vent their anger when you're paid twice more weekly than they are per year despite you basically doing nothing for your money and them having to sacrifice a lot just to put food on the table and pay the bills, with going to the game perhaps their only release from everyday life.

BTW I don't condone verbal abuse of footballers or anybody in general, but it goes with the territory in a sport you can't compare with everyday life or 99% of other professions.

Well, this is helpful. Well done to everyone involved, I’m sure this will make those players run a bit faster and harder for you next game.

Positives? It’s a lovely train ride back to the Brick though lads.

Unfortunately it's the state of the club, small minority of toxic fans drive the agenda. Not really sure what these lot hope to achieve hurling abuse at various players. If I was Maupay I'd have been over the fence doing a Cantona Kung fu. Not taking that off pissed up old men.
In any case it's not Maupays fault he's not very good and we pay him well. Whenever I watch him I don't think it's lack of effort, he's just not at the required level. Fullstop. Getting angry at the wrong folk in the wrong way. Brainless!!

You’ve literally typed my thoughts.

As much as I don’t condone the actions of the fan who’s been plastered over social media, the amount it’s cost them to travel to that match and have that performance, have they ever sat in the gwladys? It’s the same thing every match and maybe rightfully so.

They owe him nothing, him throwing fuel to the fire is a an easy summary of his character. I don’t want to see him on the team sheet again.

Totally disagree with most on here and applaud the fans at the train station.

They spent time and money to travel to two games where weve conceded 7 and scored 0.

The manager is digging at the fanbase, Maupay has digged at the fanbase.

Win a game of football ffs.
Fully agree with you apart from one thing as I've highlighted - simply giving 100% effort and not going down without a fight would do me for now. The first two games are probably as pathetic as it gets from a professional Premier League side. We should have lost by about five against Brighton.

The club still has the opportunity to sack the manager and bring in a few players, but once again they'll put all their eggs in one basket and hope for a fan-inspired route to safety, likely failing this time.
