Neville: 3.5 million
Yobo: 4.5 million
Jagielka: 4 million
Lescott: 5 million
Baines: 5-6 million

His record speaks for itself really, why couldn't he do something like that again?

And it doesn't even come down to that to be honest, if we sell Lescott for 20 million Moyes will have around 30-35 million to spend. So your point isn't really valid to be honest, he could look for bargains or big name defenders.

Brownie's spot on really, people are so scared of change.
Just because he have a knack of finding these players doesn't meen he will continue to do it. And even if he does, as he probably will, Spurs have showed that other managers are prepared to hijack our targets when they see Moyes going for them, since they too know about his gift of finding young talents on the cheap.

If Moyes could get his hand on another CD, at about 20-22 years of age, for £4M that is as good as Lescott or better, then I'd be all for this deal. But I highly doubt he could find one.

£20M + a player for someone we bought for £5M is a great deal if you just look at the money, but if the business Everton FC falls down the leaguetable into midtable mediocry.. then it's not good business. Since the worth of the name Everton FC would be lowered.

Incidentally, watching Toure for Barca just now. First thing, he's the best player in the world. Secondly, that's clearly what Fellaini wants to be, a massive wall of a player in front of the defence. Eat a few more burgers Marouane, you can do it.

I can see Moyes buying a centre back, a right back and that's it.

What a post this was.

Would like that if we get a RM as well.

I agree with Blue Wiz, he cant be able to do it all the time. And look at the circumstances of these buys -

Yobo: 4.5 million - loan before bought
Jagielka: 4 million - Picked up for pre-season, no one was interested
Lescott: 5 million - gamble due to his injury.
Baines: 5-6 million - Same as Jags.

But when players like Turner are estimated at £7million, Moyes has to do a lot of leg work to find a better defender for around that price.

It would mean he'd have to concentrate more on buying a defender that boosting the areas needed sorting - ie the right side of the team.

We're struggling to sort those places out so getting a defender is going to be rock hard.

Again, dont mind him leaving. And we'll get a lot of money. Just think we'll be left in the [Poor language removed].

The only way to look at this is to ask yourself: if we didn't have to sell-to-buy, would you want Lescott sold? I dont think it's about being resistant to change to want to hold on to a core player.

Moyes is already looking for a centre back, he said that a few days ago. So he wouldn't have a concentrate solely on getting one player in, he can look at a number of targets with that type of money.

With 35 million he could buy a midfielder and a centre back, push Neville to right back, have Nedum Onouha there and get the odd loan signing in. We'd have quite a few options if we did that type of deal.

What's your point Dave, we do have to sell-to-buy. Even so, Arsenal just got 25mil for Adebayor, he was their main striker not so long ago.

I'm just saying that stating we should embrace change and not fear it (ie, Lescott to City > money for Moyes) is making a virtue out of a necessity. That's it really. In better circumstances we shouldn't have to contemplate the sale of such a player. I know you know that, like. Difference in emphasis I suppose.

Good transfer record??? What about VDM, Kroldrup, Ferrari for example.

AS for your claim Toxteth discounting 20 mill for Lescott you must be dreaming if you think we have 10/15 mill available. Where did you get that from?

Standard Liege confirming that they rejected a pleasing offer for Defour?

That means we bid at least £10/12m.

Well we where going to spend 6 million on a fullback and we where supposedly willing to match the the 8 million for both Kyle Naughton and Kyle Walker.

I'd say around 10-15 million, probably closer to 10 million. How much do you think we'll have to spend Roberto?
