New beginning, new captain.

I don't think we have a single player captain material at the minute.

Captain for me should be a shouter and an organiser, someone who gets in the refs ear etc.

Only person I can think off like that at the minute who starts is holgate.

Maybe Allan could be a captain but would be weird giving it to a new player wouldn't it?

I was going to pick Pickford for this exact reason. Chances are would be Keane but he doesn’t start for me. Coleman I’m sure will remain

My choice would be Holgate

Coleman is a coward.

A coward? Wow
Supposed to be a positive day for the club but we still find the time to throw some snide at our captain and longest serving player.

Edit: just to clarify, i don't think Seamie is good enough to be in our team week in week out anymore. Think he should definitely remain club captain, but we'll need other team captains like ya said.... but the "coward" shout is woeful.

In Carlo Ancelloti’s book “Quiet Leadership“ he talks about two types of leaders on the pitch. Personality leaders and technical leaders. He uses Ibrahimovic and John Terry as examples of big personality leaders and Franco Baresi or Ronaldo as technical leaders. In our team the personality leaders would be Coleman (but will he be a regular) and Allan (will language be a problem and he’s new to the team?). Technical leaders would be James and Rich. Personally, I think CA would want a strong personality to be captain. I would choose Allan if his English was good, if not I would go for Holgate or Coleman.

holgate for me is the prime candidate

Doesn't really matter who the captain is. We need a team full of people with the right mentality and attitude.

Just make Baines honorary club captain and forget about the armband

That def should be the aim. Last 3 or 4 years has been woeful for attitude. Possibly the worst in all my time supporting Everton. Mentality has been a issue for god knows how long. Going into certain games already beaten goes back for a while but the attitude was ok. Wolves away last season was a real statement. They gave up and didnt care. And i genuinely think it was the day ancelotti knew he'd gave them enough chances. Never seen him call out the players like he did after that.

Digne captain, Holgate vice-captain... fine with Coleman as captain when he’s playing but I’d hope we’re bringing in a quality right back this window
