imo the badge looks good it's the only way for the Everton brand to take a step forward. Arsenal did it and look where it took them.

Arsenals is modern - but it actually looks decent. The proportions of the Everton badge just looks wrong. Don't mind getting rid of the NSNO (we can have it somewhere on the kit or something), but i still want a badge that looks good.

I'm not that arsed about Rupert's Tower, it actually looks more like the real thing:

But getting rid of NSNO/wreaths...wrong.

It may be closer to the real thing in terms of size and shape, but it is a very heavy-handed depiction.

The slimmer version is much easier on the eye and means that the shield can be more streamlined. Its only marginal, but the new badge emphasise the pig's head shape - I think that is what makes it look so clumsy.

But you are right about keeping the motto and the laurel wreaths - great history and aspiration sum up my feelings about the club.

I have yet to weigh in on this so just for the record the new badge is horrible and I hate it.

They said they did market research and consulted fans didn't they? So either they did and their findings somehow failed to represent between 90-99% of Evertonians (which makes them savagely incompetent) OR they didn't do any of that at all (which makes them liars).

Am I off the mark there?

I'd settle for just the new tower design, (no crest) the laurel wreaths and the motto underneath. E.F.C. above the Tower. No need for Everton or 1878. Like the one we had mid 80's

Nope, you're spot on.

They're either incompetent and/or liars, take your pick mate.

can anyone actually say they have been asked their opinion on this by anyone from the club ? i've only had my season ticket for the last 10 years and i wasn't asked about this god-awful replacement, anyone else?

I could live with not having Nil Satis, Nisi Optimum on the crest so long as it didn't look so shoddy

I mean, the design is horrible. I've no problem with the badge being changed so long as the new one is an improvement. This isn't an improvement, it's a travesty

It'll only hurt the club in the long run because people will choose to not buy merch with it on

Yeah, tbh i don't get the outrage about NSNO. Since it has been on the badge we've won one trophy. The laurels are a far greater part of our history.

Above all though, it's just a bad design. That's the most important thing.

I think it's the fact that the removal of it suggests that we're accepting less than the best. Symptomatic of the lack of ambition at the club.

As you say, the laurels are far more important in terms of history, but removing NSNO from the badge sends out an appalling message to the fans.

We can take not winning things; but being told not to actually strive to be the best is a kick to the balls.
