Look at the squads he walked into before you think he’d be great here. All entitled to their own opinion but nah, not for me, we aren’t the sort of club for a Conte yet.

You also can’t say no to Conte or he leaves.
The last part is the big problem. If he had patience it would be a no brainer.

The Inter squad he added most of the key parts to and the Juve squad he took over had some names but also finished 7th before he got there. He also was impressive with a questionable Italian team.

I don't doubt his ability. It is the other stuff as you're saying. I'm glad it isn't my decision to make.

In what way would Conte get our current squad playing?

The biggest learning curve of this squad for me under Carlo is that to get the best out of it, is to play rigid and defensive as it's we don't have the players skillful enough to play on the front foot. That's the most honest assessment I've heard from the most successful manager to ever be in charge of the club.

Anyone who comes in and thinks that isn't correct and feels they could do more, werei doomed.
Truth is to move on from that we need several additions. It's why people moaning about tenth don't seem to appreciate how bad and imbalanced our squad is.

Would love to see Bielsa run this sorry group into the ground to be honest. I don’t care if it’s not a long term plan, that clearly hasn’t been working. We need a culture reset in the worst way and I absolutely dread the boring PR that will come out of this if we go for an easy option

For me part of the reason this is true is because there isn't anything to be confident in. If you get the platform right then you can fall back on that when it matters. You can go into games knowing your job and knowing your teammates know theirs. It all comes back to having a plan.

I don’t totally disagree, but I think it goes deeper, attitude, leadership and confidence can take you far in football, Leicester, Sheff Utd, Leeds. I’d accept maybe it’s not sustainable without a plan but those values are the foundation, regardless of formations, philosophy etc - that comes after, let’s say it’s the ground floor.

Part of our problem in a way is we have a mixed identity. We get results playing direct, counter or ultra defensive against CL teams. But we can’t flip that to be creative, forthright, expansive or mentally strong enough to dictate a game against teams we should be beating ......we all the fixtures. Part of that in my opinion, is baseline attitude, leadership and confidence, we don’t have it and can be rattled.

You can google Conte's tactics as they'll be the same everywhere. But it isn't exactly tiki taka. Our team could handle it.

Fair enough mate - the biggest worry for me was Brands getting a new contract tbh!

Carlo was for me a safe pair of hands but over time was becoming obvious he didnt know how to coach this squad who haven't got world class players littered in it. I honestly think he would have been under big pressure next season and I think he knew it as well.

Im sick of boring 8-12th place Everton anyway so only ways up in my eyes one way or another really. Just bobbing around existing like a Crystal Southampton is utterly boring.

I think the opposite. I think a man of his experience who's won and seen everything there is in football saw the limit of that team and had plans to do something about it.

He takes over massive clubs that have maybe dropped off a bit. We haven’t been massive since the 80’s. We require a lesser name that’s gonna be here 4-5 years minimum.

I'd say we need to stop going to those teams and forcing ourselves to be super defensive to make meaningful progress. Or we need to do it within a structure that doesn't have to change massively when we play home against Fulham. Hence my love for Conte as his 3-5-2 does both in the same shape with the same patterns. It is the other stuff with him that makes you hesistant.

I'll probably get stick for this but I'd have no problems with seeing Rafael in situ at Goodison.

Yes I know he slagged us off once and used to manage them but he's a damn good manager. Non starter though as the club knows it would be a controversial appointment with our fanbase.
