You don't need to 'back the manager.' Back the club. Not the manager or the players. I for once think this group of players is incredibly unlikeable and would happily be rid of most of them. If Nuno wants to cut loose half of them for some of his Portuguese friends maybe it can work. He'll probably keep Gomes however, so it's already looking grim.

Id really like someone to explain why i keep reading lists like this?

The world is full of managers.

Wenger moved from Nagoya to London.
It's almost like a club in arguably the most prestigious and followed league who are in the top 20 rich list with an ambition to perform better couldn't go out and get the best manager available to them other than those in employ or being sought from the handful of teams above them in terms of prestige and wealth. There may be an ethical argument against getting someone who is already employed but that ship sailed after the moonhead signing and original SIlva recruitment debacle and anyway we seem to compensate for who we approach.

Now I am sure availability and knowing the league are important factors in getting a new manager in, but the list is remarkably short and doesn't show any radical insights. I am not very sure that the club under Brands has scoured the world game to identify the next big thing in terms of managers though, are you? Anyway all supposition, the club may well be trying to identify the most innovative and creative coaches in the world game and judging them to fall short of what is needed to gamble on them.

I’m going to keep an open mind on Nuno. Not doing cartwheels if he is getting the job but as I said before anyone coming in was likely to be an anti-climax after Ancelotti. Obviously in hindsight Carlo wasn’t great for us but in terms of anticipation when he arrived it was off the charts.

That's my feelings to, so disappointed the way Ancelotti turned out and then scurried off. To be honest the football towards the end of last season was appalling and I know we had injuries. But I was willing to forget all that, for the promise of his new signings and targets, felt like a bride left at the alter( lol don't take that literally). But at least Nuno has experience at premier level and done a good job with Wolves and hopefully will do a better one with us.

All the ones crying about Nunos style of play and saying we should have got Galtier

Can you tell me his style of play then? Bunch of absolute jokers.
high-tempo, high-pressing football that is ruthless on the counter in ways Nuno can only dream of. They are also defensively sound without sacrificing their attacking power. He also has twice the resume of this Portuguese Alan Pardew.
