It's almost like a club in arguably the most prestigious and followed league who are in the top 20 rich list with an ambition to perform better couldn't go out and get the best manager available to them other than those in employ or being sought from the handful of teams above them in terms of prestige and wealth. There may be an ethical argument against getting someone who is already employed but that ship sailed after the moonhead signing and original SIlva recruitment debacle and anyway we seem to compensate for who we approach.

Now I am sure availability and knowing the league are important factors in getting a new manager in, but the list is remarkably short and doesn't show any radical insights. I am not very sure that the club under Brands has scoured the world game to identify the next big thing in terms of managers though, are you? Anyway all supposition, the club may well be trying to identify the most innovative and creative coaches in the world game and judging them to fall short of what is needed to gamble on them.

See Celtic also hired a man who managed in Australia, Greece and Japan.

For me the exotic choice is Gallardo...best in South America...up and coming is Amorim.

Im just a fan though and so surely theres others who stand out across europe and worldwide...

If it doesnt work out then thats the time to be negative with a Nuno or Allardyce type...then go and try another.

So, you don't buy the 'he's appointed, so I'll support him' shouts, but you think we'd all want him to do well, even if underwhelmed....erm, right. Isn't that the same thing?

And now it's all about players we sign, irrespective of the manager...? Eh???

You're not usually so muddled in what you post.

…no, it’s not the same. I’m saying many folk (including me) are underwhelmed at the appointment but hope he does well.

Backing him largely depends on how he does. He’ll get some leeway but as with all managers, backing will depend on how the team performs.

Which was my stance with Ancelotti, which many on here weren’t happy about it seems.
Delighted he chose to come, but he wasn’t going to get adoration just for his past successes.
Jeez we are a confused fan base.

That should ensure Celtic finish either first of second in a two horse race Zat.

Think the blues are doing the right thing not announcing Nuno yet.
They are letting the fume pass for abit, allow people to talk themselves round that it might be a good idea, maybe even make a couple of trendy signings to calm the waters

Dunno about that... @orly seems to be putting the magnificent seven together again to defend the club at all costs.

He may have returned in the nick of time :o

…absolutely. Saying ‘we’ll back him’ is a little romantic. Evertonians are passionate about their club, individual players will get stick just as managers will get stick depending on how they perform. It’s human nature.

It’ll be good to see signs of a working playing strategy, signs of improvement.
