Unlikeable ??

They are footballers working at their job.
When they win we like them, when they lose we don't.

Every club is the same.
Like-ability is definitely a thing.

If we lose but have someone like Coleman, Cahill, Jagielka running their nuts off, putting in tackles, trying to play forwards and coming off the pitch looking as annoyed as us with the result I don’t hate the player.

Our current crop of players are the most disinterested I’ve ever seen. We had so many chances to get into champions league and then Europa league positions last season and our players just shuffled around, not showing for the ball, playing backwards and sideways, not pressing or putting in tackles and then wandered off the pitch with a smile after we lost, see- Sigurdsson, Iwobi, Delph, Holgate for our most unlikeable this season.

Everton set to announce manager this week – Want him signed before working on transfers

The signing of manager Nuno Espírito Santo should be announced by Everton this week, according to reports from the Portuguese media.

Most local newspapers are confident that the former Wolves boss will be landing at the Goodison Park this summer, and Record is the one today bringing an update on the situation.

They actually have a big story saying the Toffees are interested in the signing of Matheus Nunes from Sporting before saying that the transfers are pending the manager’s arrival.

It’s claimed that Espírito Santo will be ‘presented as Carlos Ancelotti’s successor’ during this week, and for a matter of ‘timing’, Everton want the announcement before closing any signings.

Record writes that the manager ‘shouldn’t escape’ from Everton and will ‘naturally follow’ the business to take Matheus Nunes out of Sporting now.

Even though the Portuguese media has been quite silent regarding Espírito Santo’s future, we now get the first signs of what will his next club be.

I especially like the bit where it mentions 'escaping from Everton...I've been trying that for 50 years

I was holding hope that the fact he hasn't been announced is because we are having second thoughts and made headway with another candidate..

Then I remembered, you know Everton.

He's out of work, you'd think any competent club would have closed the deal if they really wanted him... I live in hope.

You are not alone in that aspiration
My one glimmer of hope is that the delay is caused by an outstanding candidate ( not Nuno ) taking time and wanting assurances
I doubt NES is a coach who will progress us , more likely keep us around 7-10 in the table
If he is appointed I hope he proves me wrong
Will fit right in for the clubs Xmas party.

I really don't get the dislike of Nuno. Sure he's not of the pedigree of Ancelotti, but then we are not yet again of the calibre of club to attract the likes of him.

Nuno and his connections transformed Wolves. They did the double over us 2 seasons ago and were a competent outfit, with skilled players who qualified for Europe. Last year they had injuries and it increasingly looked as though they were to become a selling club, so Nuno left to look elsewhere.

The reason other aspiring clubs aren't in for him is because they know they haven't got a chance because Everton are keen. This is why Palace dropped out - they realised Nuno wanted to be here and they couldn't compete.

Brian Kidd always seemed to stay around whichever new manager arrived at man city some like to keep some sort of link between the old and the new.funnily enough that was apparently something that went against Moyes who got rid of any link when he went to utd

…it’s a good point, although Kidd has proved himself a very good assistant/coach.

I’m sure there’d be disgruntled voices if Ferguson was sacked but I think his association with the past might be a negative.

I don't agree with the above statement at all (especially re. Ancelotti) but we both agree that Nuno is the wrong guy. What I'm saying is, he will not even have the support Marco enjoyed at the beginning, so he will be even worse.
How will that make him even worse? If anything so many people being made up with Marco being the new manager and being proven completely wrong as he was terrible just shows the exact reason why we shouldn’t be the ones choosing managers.

honestly I get why people are against nuno being appointed, but at the same time everyone was made up with ancelotti and the result was some of the worst performances in years. If it is nuno he’ll have my full backing and the huge majority of Everton fans until he proves otherwise.

unfortunately one thing I’m sure of is if the appointment goes badly myself and others who are giving our support to the new manager will hold our hands up and admit we was wrong far quicker than the ones against it will admit they was wrong if nuno works out well.

He's a worse manager than Silva, and he lacks the fan support Marco had....hope this helps..

He’s clearly not a worse manager otherwise he’d not have just been managing a premier league squad, before last season being linked with bigger clubs, and looking likely to be managing another prem team very soon whereas silva has been out of work for a couple of years.

Again he had the support and was absolutely terrible, ancelotti had the support and once again was terrible, koeman had the support again terrible. So no it doesn’t help because Silva isn’t a better manager and proved us all wrong in supporting him.

sure nuno might prove us supporters giving him our backing wrong, but he may do the complete opposite. It’s not like the majority of us haven’t been wrong with all recent appointments.
