it would benefit fergusons ambition to be everton manager in the future if he was cut loose and got an actual managers job somewhere else.
see what hes made of and in 12-18 months when nuno leaves he could be in contention.

…I can’t see that. He has a comfort zone. USM FF is his domain, he can come & go as he wishes, he’s well paid. Going elsewhere is a risk I doubt he’d be willing to take.

…yep, I don’t mind him bringing those he relies on, often you’re only as good as the people who work for you.

I have no idea of Ferguson’s worth as a coach, but I think his position as ‘Mr Everton’ is too romantic & I’d actually see it as a good sign if NES doesn’t want him involved.
Brian Kidd always seemed to stay around whichever new manager arrived at man city some like to keep some sort of link between the old and the new.funnily enough that was apparently something that went against Moyes who got rid of any link when he went to utd

I’m really hoping all those reports were way off the mark. It’s certainly taking a long time
All of the reports originated from the one source i.e Dominic King so it is possible they are wrong. Communication from the club is diabolical as always though and they haven't even done anything to quash the rumours so god knows what is going on. Not even sure they know tbh.

Umm

not sure why you've posted that, because it hardly supports your case.

at best people were half heartedly saying, 'well he's our manager now, we must give him our full support'

King dismissed both the Ancelotti and the James rumours - right up to the point both signed on.
Unfortunately (or fortunately is you're pro Nuno) i think this is correct.
It's an underwhelming and uninspiring appointment but I'm not sure it's a terrible move, it's just not Ancelotti levels of exciting but maybe that's what we need right now. A managerial appointment that doesn't come with this insane level of expectation. I don't know, I'm trying to find some sort of positive from the whole situation.

What do you want the club to say? They've already said they are looking for a new manager. They aren't exactly going to come out and say, this is our shortlist who do you want

can you read polls?

%67 said No to Nuno on Saturday in a poll voted by GOTers btw.
sorry, missed the poll was just reading the comments.

even there though, i wonder if it was a different time, we have been through hell and back since then. I would suggest the fan base is in a far less tolerant mood now. Additionally Allardyce for all his faults had steadied the ship from the Koeman/Unswsorth days. Ancelotti frankly has taken us at least 1 step backwards in terms of play style if nothing else.

I don't agree with the above statement at all (especially re. Ancelotti) but we both agree that Nuno is the wrong guy. What I'm saying is, he will not even have the support Marco enjoyed at the beginning, so he will be even worse.

yes, and I would say part of that is a result of the experience with Silva, which was disastrous.

Which is why I think you suggesting that Silva was reasonably well received initially means very little. In fact I am not sure why you even brought it up? He's probably severly damaged the confidence of the fan base, and directly led to mercenary recruits like Ancelotti.
