Klopp is a great manager, but he did inherit a very expensive squad. Probably the 3rd or 4th in the league at that time.

People constantly go on about our spending the last 5yrs. But from around 2009 to 2015 we had a net spend of something like 5mil. While Liverpool’s was like 200mil. When you consider the price difference in the last 10years you can probably double that 200mil in today’s money.

I think there was a stat Liverpool spent over a billion from 2006 FA cup to 2019 champions league. It goes to show it’s not always about money. It’s about the manager and how the people spend it.

Was it really that much considering they sold Torres, Suarez, Mascherano, Alonso and Sterling for big money? I would have thought nearer half that.

They'd just got smashed 6-1 by Stoke, had no defense at all (Moreno, Clyne, Skrtel, Sakho, Mignolet in goal). Gerrard's last game was that Stoke match and Sterling left after it. Sturridge was always crocked by then.

He didn't have a lot to work with.
