Conte is a long shot - because he will soon have more immediately attractive offers - but it's not outlandish. Few clubs in the world could potentially offer 11m a year. So, financially, Everton is, potentially, one of the best-paid jobs in football. Secondly, unlike Spurs - who are trying to cut costs - we have an owner who seems to want to spend big. I don't know whether or not that's a prudent approach, but it certainly makes the implausible more plausible. Finally, the taboo of managing Everton has been broken. Carlo Ancelotti broke that. Managers who wouldn't otherwise have thought twice of Everton as an option now know that the great Ancelotti took it on. That makes the status symbol types pause for thought...especially when 11m is being dangled in front of you and there are no better alternatives currently in play...

Finished 4th in his first full season.
Klopp is a great manager, but he did inherit a very expensive squad. Probably the 3rd or 4th in the league at that time.

People constantly go on about our spending the last 5yrs. But from around 2009 to 2015 we had a net spend of something like 5mil. While Liverpool’s was like 200mil. When you consider the price difference in the last 10years you can probably double that 200mil in today’s money.

I think there was a stat Liverpool spent over a billion from 2006 FA cup to 2019 champions league. It goes to show it’s not always about money. It’s about the manager and how the people spend it.

Think if anything, it'll be the other way.

Moshiri wanted Nuno Santo before Brands come to Everton.

I can see Brands not wanting Nuno due to his links with agents.

Might be a risk to his job.

Although I agree he'd probably jump to an elite club if asked, I also firmly believe he'd have us playing much better and wouldn't stand for our lot coasting. Still doubt it will be Conte either.
Our squad isn’t good enough for a manager like him to make a difference. We are shopping at Asda this summer (not Aldi or Lidle). We need a manager willing to operate in that market.

That's why I said if he came we would splurge money. You have absolutely zero, zero clue about our transfer strategy though.

Conte would need a guaranteed £200million plus any sales just to stand a chance and the moment we hit a stumbling block he'd be kicking off and everyone would be waiting for it to blow up in our faces.
Don't get me wrong, if he was appointed it would be massive statement of intent - bigger than Ancelotti's appointment as Conte is at his peak but we know how these things play out for us. There's no shortcut to success when it comes to Everton, everything is hard way.

I think financing Conte could put the club in financial peril. FFP hasn’t gone away. I know the club are worried about it.

I just don’t think he is a good fit for where we are. We would be burned again. The only possibility is if USM place a whole load of money for the stadium rights.
