I understand what you say but I disagree.

We've had Koeman and Carlo and neither could use their will to change things at the club (both were recognised by biggest clubs in Europe as credible); ditto Martinez who picked up the Belgium job. I just don't see another manager in the same mould making an impact.

Having a man with a real affinity to the club would mean a lot to supports and it might just work - why should Arteta, Gerrard be any more likely to be successful than Duncan?

Unsworth had a real affinity to the club, and the players couldn’t motivate themselves for him.

Id say the Arsenal 0-0 for Ferguson was us reverting to sort, and not caring.

The fans may be up for it, but intimidation can only get hou so far, and from what I saw from Ferguson , his tactics were very limited.

He’s my favourite Everton player ever, but if you’re comparing him to Gerrard, who’s got that natural hunger, a winners mentality, who’s proven that he can do it, then Gerrard would be the choice for any other team.

If he goes away, proves his worth and shows me he can be a good manager, fine, but we haven’t really got an opportunity to give a job out based on sentiment, it’s a business at the end of the day and it’s far too risky, to give Duncan the job.

The thing I fear is being stuck in the cycle again.

Ancelotti clearly knew what he wanted to do with the squad in the summer.

What's the new manager going to do, see what players like Iwobi, Coleman, Sigurdsson etc can do in their hands? Maybe even worse and get in their own equivalent of Iwobi or Sigurdsson.

this is it now. This appt has to be right we’re falling further n further Behind

I think its time the club go for the likes of Sean Dyche. Someone who will be happy to be at the club, won't take anything below 100% effort and build a team that actually will want to play as much for the club as their pay packet. 4 to 5 years of stability is needed now rather than the constant let downs, false dawns and 18 months after 18 months of merry go rounds since Moyes left.

Leicester pretty much got promoted, won the league etc
So what? One in Fourty?

If we’re being generous. My point was, it’s not worth the gamble of giving Duncan Ferguson the Everton job permanently, because it’s a very low probability he’ll be successful, and we can’t afford to be sentimental.

Moyes usually has a good eye for players that will perform in the premier league...with some exception of course...soucek is the perfect example...what a bargain. I can see maybe struggling in Europe where tactically he is not as good as some of those big European managers. But in the premier league, he will get you results.

I’d throw Coufal and Bowen in there too.

Would you take Allardyce back?

Gerrard is a proven winner, that’s my choice, he probs wouldn’t take it but it’s a great op in the prem so……players can always dream of winning with the team they played for, not sure how that always works out, ask Lampard.
