Picked a league and a team at random to see what other managers are out there.

I've decided we should take a punt on Marko Nikolic. Young up and comer who since 2016 has won the Serbian Supaliga, Serbian Cup, Nemzeti Bajnokság, Magyar Kupa and the Russian Cup. Finished 3rd with locomotic Moscow this season.

Proven winner. Know nothing else about him other than what he has won on Wikipedia.

Its hard to think of who the board could have went out and got that was a more divisive appointment.

The really worryingly thing here is they learned nothing from Allardyce, he was universally unpopular, didn't matter what he did - and he did better then most would accept position wise compared to others - he would never tbe accepted by the fanbase. That enmity and separation was the trigger for the end of his time here.

All those ingredients exist with Benitiez, in fact its 50 times worse, if you went out picked a manger with a profile who would never be accepted by Evertonians its him, its like they went out of their way to do it.

Worrying thing is we've learned nothing from the past and are just repeating the same mistakes.

The boards job is to appoint the best fit for the current squad of players mate.

This idea that they should be appointing someone who the fans "like" is exactly the sort of nonsense why we have failed post Moist.

"Oh that Martinez won an FA Cup fans will have him"

"Oh that Silva plays good football the fans will be made up with him"

"Oh that Carlo is a massive name the fans wont boo him no siree"

I dont necessarily want Benitez but at present he's the best of an average bunch when you see the likes of Howe, Potter, Lampard, Big Duncs names banded around.

Nuno and Galtier are the only two outside of Conte that wouldnt be so divisive and one of those wants his own staff which jobs for the boys Kenwright wont accept and the other hasn't been approached and has only done well in France which is a sub par league minus 3 or so sides.

There are other good candidates besides Rafael Benitez but I would urge us to get over this jibe he made (and guess what, we were acting like a small cloob the way Moyes set us up in those big away games). All he did was pander to the LFC fan base nothing much more than that.

The problem here is that too many people are obsessing over Liverpool instead of loving Everton.

Benitez will be a disastrous appointment not based on his work or anything but just do to the animosity that most fans have for him. As I said earlier, I'll back him if he does ends up the manager but he'll have a massive mountain to climb from day one just to win over the majority of supporters and I don't think he's capable of doing it as he's not been blessed with a very likeable personality.
I reckon it’s probably more of an even split of supporters that are for and against Benitez.- only it seems practically no one wants him because they’re the vocal ones.
The ones for Benitez dare not open their mouths.

Blue circle | "The Everton Board of Directors spoke with Christoph Galtier regarding the vacant Everton position before it was offered to Rafael Benitez.

Galtier wanted all of his coaching staff but Bill Kenwright didn't want Duncan Ferguson to lose so talks broke down."

If true, that is an absolute joke!

I mean, if true that really should make Dunc go. Regardless of who it is, if they don't have a spot for Duncan he should move on. He's popular, I get it. But if the long term stability and progression of the club is being held back because they don't want Duncan is there then that's a massive massive problem.

i tell you this thread is an education of Managers all over Europe & the world every day another 2 candidates arise..... lol
We are only linked to like 4/5 managers, but when you have a look, there's literally hundreds out there, if not thousands....

If true, that is an absolute joke!

All Dunc has to do is go work with Baines and Unsy. Not like he'd be out of a job. Think if that's true, Bill and Dunc need to accept he won't be number 2 for every manager coming in. He should go cut his teeth somewhere with the aim of managing us one day. I will say, while I believe Bill would do something like that I don't believe Dunc would hold the club back for his own interest.
