It speaks volumes about who writes for the Athletic!

It's really weird to have a pop at who is in the boardroom over something that is idle speculation from a random website about who we are looking at to replace one of the most successful managers to ever play the game who said boardroom also employed.
They sell themselves as being connected so I highly doubt it’s pure fabrication. I’d like to be wrong though.

The problem is mate when you say it works for the players in what way? What’s he gonna do differently that Silva or Ancelotti couldn’t do with them? If Ancellotti couldn’t get a tune out of them the best of times and they didn’t up their game, they’re not gonna take some bum manager who’s done nothing in his career of significance seriously are they?

I think this is going to be the case with almost all of the options linked. People genuinely underestimate what a bad bunch of eggs we have in our ranks with this current squad.

I think fans actually overestimate this. Nobody knows that Everton have "bad eggs" in the squad. Did this squad overperform or underperform relative to their abilities and those of other teams last season?

The "bad egg" idea seems to be based on the assumption that several managers have failed with most of the same group of players, so it must be the players.

That is flawed logic. The squad needs improvement to reach the top four, that is no doubt. But that does not mean we have lazy or unprofessional players.

In answer to the question "What are other managers going to do that Carlo couldn't?", Potter or any other coach are likely to have a different approach to Carlo.

It is not like "Carlo has had the most experience and the most success so his way is the right way" because evidently that is not true.

CA is great at setting a team up tactically but seemingly had a more relaxed approach to training, maybe the next coach will be a strict disciplinarian, maybe they will be in between the two. Maybe they will be a better communicator than Carlo, who knows.

Yeah, Scotland is like very bad. VVD, Robertson, Rodgers, Tierney, McGinn - never seen worse in the league.
You do not understand. Playing in Scotland or Netherlands is not anything like as competitive. Of course there are people who make the step-up but it is a big risk I would rather not see us take.
