He has no rep left.

He wants the job so he can stay at home, plain and simple, sure the money will help.

But he knows he will get sacked after 6months and pocket a 3 year contract.

You do know that multi-millionaires have different lives than us normal people.

Im sure hes very rich, take Conte for example, he earned 52m last year in wages and compo from Chelsea, he never has to work again, but I doubt he will be offering his services for free or retiring.

Defending Rafael Benitez is not a hill I’m willing to die on but…..he’s won 2 major trophies (top 5 league trophy or European title) and 2 minor trophies in the last 10 years. If he’d won much more he wouldn’t really be interested in the job. Think Carlo was the outlier here.

He’s also won more than most of the other sensible candidates (I.e. not the likes of Conte or Simeone). Galtier is probably the only candidate with more recent success.

Like I said Benitez is the wrong candidate. Nothing to do with ability or his character. It would just be a divisive decision due to his previous managerial positions. A decisive appointment is not needed.

So he built the Chelsea team that had won tye champions league the season before and he took a second place Napoli spent 160m and took them to 4th and 5th failing to qualify for the champions league both times.

I think claiming that he built those teams to be better is stretching it a bit.
