I don’t think Martinez was taking us down - the fans just revolted. it was widely reported that Moshiri / Brands wanted to keep on Silva but the fans forced their hand there as well.
Allardyce had the worst reception of the lot from the fans yet still got us in a decent league position - so we can say the fans forced that as well.

Koeman probably the only one where he would have been sacked regardless.
The team had completely lost the plot under RM at the end.
It was a mercy killing.

All of that is possibly true but on the flip side and playing devil's advocate ( and let me make it clear I despise Benitez and find it shocking that Moshiri would even consider him) if, just if , he got the job and did well raising his own profile at the same time his local ties might persuade him against jumping ship if a super yacht like PSG etc came calling.
Yeah as I say, I can’t claim that the concerns would actually turn out to have been justified, just that I can see why people are highlighting the geographical aspect of it.

No, it's pretty unhealthy really. My football intake has gone down loads in the last few years and i'm much more content.

I have spells where I consume more or less, and overall consuming less was definitely better. I know there's almost this Kopitism "my life is my club" sort of thing they do which is fair enough if you are travelling home and away to watch games (which most reds who do it are not, and normally the ones that do don't engage in that sort of rubbish) but when it's just trawling social media it's just quite unproductive.

I think people would be happier if they tried not to let the hype that surrounds social media affect them. My Dad still involves himself in football, but I suppose it's more regulated via different media orgs.

Having a wife who hates football and a 5 year old son has moderated my football intake hugely. I just really watch Everton games now and that’s it. Which also means I’m absolutely clueless about managers and whatnot lol

Really who cares if another team might sing a song about our manager. On the other side of the coin he might do well and actually get a result against them. Do you think they will bother to sing a song then?
This clubs got bigger things to be concerned about other than opposing fans possibly singing a few songs.

On the banners.
A fully grown adult man more than likely created those banners and decided to put them up. That says it all about our fan base and the lack of intelligence within it with people thinking they are “great”.

I care. What now?

If we do beat them then it will be "Oh you need a red to beat us lah..." etc. It would be incredibly tedious. There are other managers in the world who can also "do well".

As for the banners. One person doing one thing "says it all about our fanbase and the lack of intelligence?"

So another one of "us" defending "Rafael" and slating our fans.

Why does this keep happening? No wonder we are in a mess.

Spurs ending talks with Gattuso because of fan revolt... big moment for Moshiri this now. I think the message is very clear.

An opening day defeat or a couple on the trot under him and things would get very sour, very fast. Plus there's no need to take a big risk by appointing him at all.
Interestingly one ( apparently very significant) element of fans dissatisfaction with Gattuso was his openly expressed views on gay marriage.

I agree, there is too much 'i am the biggest fan' on social media (although there seems to be a decent amount of backlash to that now with parody accounts).

I even think some of the season ticket holders of 30+ years or whatever don't even care about the football that much. They probably just like the routine.

Possibly but if it was that cut and dried why the sit down protests demanding his removal ?

Because he was taking us down. 'Freefall' is the word that springs to mind.

In a parallel universe where he was still manager no matter what, I'm convinced we're in League One right now. He was hopeless - once the solidity Moyes left behind evaporated, that was the end. Everything in his managerial career points to something very obvious - he's a cup manager, and a very, very, very bad league manager.

When people take emotion out of it, the answer is different.
Objectively he’s an experienced manager with a good cv, albeit one who has not done an awful lot of note in recent years. If he didn’t have the RS links most wouldn’t bat an eyelid. Certainly my Spurs supporting mates have told me they would take him no problem.

Yet, in a way,you probably know just as much as the 24/7 stat nerds.
