He’s rebuilt his reputation on having a decent run (but still not winning anything) with one of the best international teams in the world with Lukaku Hazard De Bruyne Tielemans and Courtouis in it. It’s like saying let’s hire Gareth Southgate because he got England to a World Cup semi. No one would want him and rightly so because club management and international management are different things and Martinez is an awful club manager as he proved over three seasons with us. He does not need any longer.

Have to consider the money he had to work with, which was minimal after Lukaku. Big difference between the discount squad he put together and the one we've seen since Koeman/Walsh.

Basically, the only people who know anything about what is going on with the Everton Managers job are Everton and everyone else should just be ignored because they get it wrong about practically everything. At this point it could literally be anyone who gets the job. Might even end up being Fonseca or Galtier for all we know. Would definitely be a lot more support if it was one of them. Just have to wait and see how it transpires. Nothing is ever easy or quick with Everton appointments.

Its not difficult to have drawn up a list of 3-4 blokes who play the way the DOF of the club wants and interview them accordingly.

Except Martinez also played some of the best football I've seen in my entire time watching the club, including during those 11th placed seasons.

He had to deal with transitioning the squad from the Moyes era with players who were now in their 30s and questioning his methods, all whilst having very little money to bring in fresh players of any quality.

The way Martinez 'defended' set pieces, should be used in coaching manuals as a case study.

He has managed them in ONE competition. The World Cup, where he equaled their best ever position (actually I suppose they came 3rd so he got their best finish) and regardless of who he has at his disposal a World Cup is never a gimme.

Galtier done it his entire career, rebuilt teams, sold the better players rebuilt again. I think he the perfect candidate but as usual Everton have Internet like North Korea where only managers who managed in the PL can be seen.

We’ve had 17 days, Spurs have had nearly two months and will be back in competitive action in a month’s time, you think their fans are writing the season off?
