Needs to be someone who wants a challenge and to really test and push themselves because being honest we’re a shambles.

We’re a club who’s history and fan base say we should be challenging for the title and in the top 6 at minimum yearly. Yet we’ve had a “good“ season if we finish top half of the table is where we are.

Honestly thought that Carlo was here for just this, but obviously not.
I think both the board and the manager need to be realistic about the size of the task. This isn’t a squad that’s ready for European football without a serious injection of quality.

Excellent post mate. And for the sake of making an unemotional appointment, if it makes more logical footballing sense than all other candidates, I'll be willing to settle for Benitez. If Benitez manages to win a derby in his 1st season, most fans would already move on.
I can understand the arguments in favour of appointing Benitez and I don’t have any personal animosity to the bloke but if he gets the job and doesn’t make a good start then I think he’s under a fair bit of pressure right away. If I were on the board this would concern me - if he has a bad start the fans will want him out. Do they really want to have to look for another manager before Christmas?

if they appoint him they’ll have to be one hundred percent certain he’s going to be a success.

Well thats hardly a crime, trying to appoint good managers. As I said, they did not do well but went onto bigger and better things. It really is not Mosh at fault for these things
He made the weong appointments, we need managers who specialise in rebuilds such as Poch, Ragnick and Galtier, not big names who only come in for a year or two then leave.

If the above link is true, then we need to go with Rafael Benitez and support him.

Farhad Moshiri and Usmanov are then men with money and they call the shots (Usmanov not going to put money in then be told by the fans he cannot have the manager he wants).

Moshiri can ask for advise from the rest of the board, but he is the one that will have the final say.

I think with Rafael we can challenge for a European place next (not top 4), but 6th or 7th.
I do not know how exciting the football will be, but we need European Football, as Villa and Leicester already started to strengthen there squads.

I do not see much of a difference between Ancelotti and Benitez.

If Usmanov wants him and Rafael wants to come, then we will get Rafael. Now all those fans who will give up there season ticket etc....will be taken by others.

Thing is if Uzi does want Rafael, not that I trust the Echo, but if the overlord and Moshiri want him we need to back him, we cant be happy for them to blow money left right and center but at the same time not want them to.pick the man they like. We either want these two involved or we dont.

The majority probably were happy, but a lot of people weren't:

Which is gonna happen with anyone. Happened with Carlo. Would happen if Pep turned up too

Is Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's a poor manager? With Cardiff he was poor, and now at Man Utd he has money to spend to buy quality players he looks a better manager (and Man Utd finished 2nd last season).

Rafael will money to buy better quality players, will make us much better.
