But taking over Borussia when rock bottom and achieving a 3rd, 7th and a 4th place wasn’t too shabby. He defo is a good manager, he's often left clubs in much healthier places than where he found them but yeah I know what you mean.
I think people are getting insecure that maybe we didn't approach them, which I can understand tbf, we've never really thought outside the box a little bit with our post-Moyes managers, it's all been quite straight down the line.
Literally every single one of them had at least 2 seasons experience in the PL.
- Martinez was considered to be a good young manager who did his best with Wigan and did well to win the FA Cup despite going down
- Koeman got Southampton to 7th or there abouts
- Allardyce keeps teams up (vommits)
- Silva was the next hot young thing who got a dead and burried Hull to a chance of safety on the last day and had Watford up there before Everton turned his head
- Ancelotti is one of the most successful managers in the game and was available at the right time
That's why I was opposed to Nuno, he seems a decent manager, but can't help but feel we'd just be repeating the cycle. Granted going outside the box for the sake of it defo could go wrong, but it's not exactly been great going with the predictable appointments.
Put the final nail in the coffin for me Everton, Palace appointing Favre while we're scrambling between Rafael or Martinez, Finish me off for good you gang of scrotums.
So it's about our level? We don't need a revolution, We need a steady pair of hands who can guide us up the table, He's not my #1 choice either I'd be taking Galtier tomorrow but him and Nice seem to be kissing in the tree and Favre is free and looks the best available. We're being linked with bloody NES/Martinez and Rafael, Favre is levels above them.I see.
One of those answers;
"Nice and Monchengladbach, from mid table or relegation-battling to the champions league, playing attractive attacking football. Left them in much stronger positions than they started with."
I've just checked and Favre took over at Nice from Claude Puel (remember him at Southampton and Leicester... *shudders*). Puel had a win rate of 40% at Nice. Favre, 42%.
It's not massive is it? Hardly a revolution.
[Edit] Just checked. Puel finished 4th with them. The following season, Favre took them to 3rd. He then left with them in 8th. Patrick Vieira then come in and finished 7th and 6th.
I think we have kicked on from being nailed on certainties for the drop in 13/14 to probably ok for the last few seasons in a league that gets tougher and more unbalanced year on year. Favre would be a step up in class for us whilst I see him being a bit meh for Everton given his actual record. Favre’s belief in bringing youngsters through sits well with our establishing strategy of investing heavily in the academy, so that at least would be joined up.To some degree, I kind of think you would expect Palace too, but what's interesting for Palace is you haven't as yet really kicked on. You've been in the league it must be 7 or 8 years and you've not really consolidated yourselves upwards, which is probably more unusual than anything. But Palace will probably be viewed as an "established" PL team now and when you take the blinkers off, I'm not sure Everton or Spurs can really make much more of a claim than that currently. So objectively I can completely see why Palace would look at a manager who was interviewing at Everton or even Spurs and think they have a USP that gives them a chance. I mean for Favre the offer Palace give him will be different to the offer Spurs/Everton can give and you kind of hope that connects.
I can't really make sense of why it's taking so long for all 3 clubs. I mean our board is pretty inept so I do get that but the others less so. I suppose Spurs are in a tough spot as they are clearly going to have to sell their star player who has kept them afloat and not have much to reinvest. For Palace the "De Boer" experience must linger large, where you tried to make the change a bit too soon and it went really wrong. Whether Palace want to twist with a Potter type appointment, and the degree they want to twist must be difficult question.
Or we can do like Sunday league teams do when their managers don't turn up and get the captain to pick the team oh wait a minute that's GiffiI wonder if Farhad might fancy having a go at managing himself you know...
He wouldn’t pick himself it it was raining.Or we can do like Sunday league teams do when their managers don't turn up and get the captain to pick the team oh wait a minute that's Giffi

I've now found myself hoping it's Potter. That's what Everton have done to me in this sea
He'd be good at that don't Cricket captains do a lot of pointingNever really had that problem in most teams I played in tbf. It was more about ringing round looking a mate to make up a team.
My cricket team had to play with 9 men on Saturday lol
