He got Monchengladbach and Nice into the Champions League, they were teams like us sort of middling around 7th before he came in. He also got Dortmund as close to the title as they have since Klopp was there.

Defo a good manager, but what we need I'm really not too sure. 63 as well which makes me think he probably hasn't got another 4/5 year project in him.

Still can't see why some are having a nervous breakdown over him...

From just glancing at his record, admittedly without intricate knowledge of all clubs/leagues - he looks meh.

I wouldn't be surprised if we do approach Favre now.

At his age, it would be another stop-gap appointment.

He isn't a "bad" manager all told, but he never sees anything through. Be hard to see him lasting the length of a contract.

He is the sort of manager that would get our job as a least-worst option once a lot of other routes have been exhausted.

For whatever reason it looks as if the club want an experienced manager. I think we have appointed our oldest ever manager and then broke the record again under Moshiri. We have also have 3 of the oldest managers in the clubs history over the last 5 years and it gets to a stage where I am not sure it is coincidence anymore.

I think Favre would be an option who would fit in to what people want Brands to do quite easily. So a stop gap of sorts, but also one that may allow us to start making the sort of changes people deem necessary. I would be happy with Favre, but appreciate he will be here for 2-3 years.

Contradicting all of the above, I would not be surprised if we end up with Ferguson at the end of this.

I am finding it a little unusual how long all the managerial appointments are taking this summer to be fair.

It's not just us. It's Palace and especially Spurs as well. Wolves took a good few weeks to appoint someone too.

Maybe it's because it's a tournament summer but it seems everyone is really taking their time. Maybe there are just a shortage of decent managers out there.

I think it is because managers and/or their agents are playing clubs off against each other. No one wants to be seen to take another’s cast off either.

You not seen the other names mentioned?

he did with Nice and Monchengladbach exactly the type of job we need somebody to do, move us forward.
He has a proven track record.
It’s not as some are suggesting because he’s “hip” or got a cool sounding European name, the guys got genuine form.

The only question mark is the time out he’s had.

And I mean this nicely but there is a bit of a pecking order which is there, but it's not so wide that it's inconceivable that there may be an overlap of targets. I mean you could probably say that Palace and now Spurs are both probably tailing the same mini league of the PL now. It's a bit of an odd situation.

Agree, I wonder how close Martinez would have gotten if Euro weren’t going on
