Have a read back there mate. Spending £6.75m on Christian Atsu is absolutely nothing like spending £45m on Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Jacob Murphy is still very much a key part of their team too. And I seem to recall that we were interested in him at the time.
Jacob Murphy spend 2 of the last 3 seasons on loan in the championship.

Mosh is an accountant. Accountants are safe, by nature. He tried the flash with Ancelotti, now he's turning to "safe" Benitez. Turned to "safe" Allardyce after Koeman.

He's past it. The fans hate him. He will get no grace period. First bad run and Goodison will be toxic. Our players are cowards, so a bad atmosphere at Goodison will result in terrible results. The fat mess koppite won't be able to ditch them all.

It's a terrible idea which has little to nothing to do with "small club" comments.
This. We will have a bad run and then it will be 'Agent Rafael', this could get ugly quite quickly. Also, he's too negative, the same at all the clubs he's been at.

Lots of wet sheets in here tonight, why? Because the mirror said Rafael’s coming, talksport said he isn’t both as bad as each other, one of them is correct, let’s see how this plays out

I agree with a lot of that tbf mate. I'd love a young up and coming manager who worked hand in hand with Brands and built something beautiful and long term. Totally would.

Nevertheless, our owner seems to have a different plan. He wants trophies and he wants a big name who will be a big presence. We were buzzing when that was Ancelotti. I'd argue that Benitez isn't worlds away from Ancelotti in stature in the game - certainly closer to him than, say, Potter or even Galtier. And yet we're hating it because he was a bit of a wind up merchant when he managed our biggest rivals. It's a bit pathetic.

Like it or not, we don't run the club. We're supporters. We don't get to choose who the new man is. Our job is to support them. It's in absolutely nobody's best interests to create an atmosphere so toxic that the manager and players struggle to perform and end up back to square one yet again.

We're cutting our nose off to spite our face.
How you or I feel about it is irrelevant, I agree. However, how 38,000 at Goodison do feel about it will have an effect on performance. Benitez is not a galvanising force for a large number of them. There will be no honeymoon period. If he isn't instantly, and I mean instantly, successful the crowd will turn on him and the team.

Atsu is hopeless, was hopeless at us on loan and nothing changed, as much as we all hate Gylfi he at least pops up with a decent goal/assist return every season. Jacob Murphy played less than 50% of available minutes this season and didn't exactly light the league up. He's Iwobi levels of crap
