A mate said to me about boycotting the match if they appoint benitez.

I'd never have dreamed about doing that 18 Months ago. But an enforced break due to covid means it wouldn't be such a hardship these days.

My seat would go empty every game if they appoint benitez.

How you or I feel about it is irrelevant, I agree. However, how 38,000 at Goodison do feel about it will have an effect on performance. Benitez is not a galvanising force for a large number of them. There will be no honeymoon period. If he isn't instantly, and I mean instantly, successful the crowd will turn on him and the team.
I know. Which I think is a total shame and could be the undoing of us.

I say again - I don't want him - he's well down my list.
But the fume about him is massively overblown, misplaced and mainly driven by petty bitterness which frankly I think is starting to eat the club alive.

We'll never get out of that lot's shadow when we act so small

I don't want him. I'm just reacting to the suggestion that he was a bad signing for Newcastle by Rafael.
Well he wasn't exactly a good signing was he? Got bombed out to the championship by Rafael and the superior manager Steve Bruce got a small tune out of him

Come on mate. Its next to nothing. City have just bid 100 mil for Kane to put it in to perspective.

In the same time period we spent nearly 350 mil, twice the amount Rafael spent. Yet you're claiming Rafael spent a lot when it was significantly less than we have spent.
Mate if you're in the loop and know whats happening youre either connected to the club or connected to this irrelevant former lfc manager, you say youre an Everton fan like the rest of us. What's the clubs thinking on impossing this washed up man on us against our wishes????

Fair enough. But nowhere near the level of some of the utter disasters we've managed to lumber ourselves with. Potentially they'll get their money back on him - and they'll already have recouped some loan fees and wages.
If that's the best people can come up with for Rafael's horrendous transfer dealings I think I can live with it

I agree with a lot of that tbf mate. I'd love a young up and coming manager who worked hand in hand with Brands and built something beautiful and long term. Totally would.

Nevertheless, our owner seems to have a different plan. He wants trophies and he wants a big name who will be a big presence. We were buzzing when that was Ancelotti. I'd argue that Benitez isn't worlds away from Ancelotti in stature in the game - certainly closer to him than, say, Potter or even Galtier. And yet we're hating it because he was a bit of a wind up merchant when he managed our biggest rivals. It's a bit pathetic.

Like it or not, we don't run the club. We're supporters. We don't get to choose who the new man is. Our job is to support them. It's in absolutely nobody's best interests to create an atmosphere so toxic that the manager and players struggle to perform and end up back to square one yet again.

We're cutting our nose off to spite our face.
I'd say the 1st 45 mins of the 1st game are gonna be absolutely crucial.

We all know what comes next.

Again, using your argument. We recouped money back on loaning out Bolasie, We also recouped money selling Klaassen. Only one you originally mentioned who we haven't is Gylfi, who is still part of the first team squad
