Ralf Rangnick for me. We need someone who can actually give us an identity and a philosophy on how we play. Conte wouldn't want to come and build a team the same way I think that Carlo didn't I think we were defo just a stopgap and we dont need that again. We need someone to come in and get rid of the dross with an actual plan.

He is more of a DOF than a manager, also has had some issues in the past which caused him to jib the game off for a bit.

He would have been perfect to replace Steve Walsh (or indeed Brands currently but that's not going to happen).

Half of me knows that we need better than Moyes now, the other half of me remembers that there has pretty much been no Everton FC since he left, instead we've become this lumbering joke with no identity or heart. Oh please come back and make us Blue again Moyesy.... wait, what am I saying?!

Did very well in his first 2 seasons at Porto but was obliterated by Sporting this season

Sportings manager is Amorim whose my 2nd choice after Gallardo

Gallardo is my preferred choice just because it would be a bit different, other than his playing days I don't know much about him and I am very bored of us right now.

I’d go for Ferguson.

Lampard would not be interested enough and would be transient.

I'd probably go Duncan over Lampard too. Knowing the club and it's traditions gives him a big plus, and in honesty he managed the 4 games we had very well. It was a different approach for each game, and his in game management was also very good.

The other thing with Duncan is, listen to how those around football speak about him. Alan Shearer, Roy Keane etc talk about him as having an aura about him that they admired. That gets you a long way, as someone like Gerrard is finding at Ibrox.

This isn't to say I want him, nor that he should get the job, but it's not disputable really.

I think there's a good manager in Lampard too, but I'm not convinced he would be the best we can get. Chelsea went backwards under him.

Conte for me. If not him, then either Potter, who has good coaching qualifications and can play a number of ways, or whichever manager Brands chooses, because at least they'll sink or swim together.

I`d go all out for Conte, Poch or Zidane. The big names to awaken this sleeping giant of English football...

BUT I do worry we are getting Howe, I guess I`m trying to find positives in this. Why did he turn Celtic down? Was he always lined up? Just conspiracy thoeries....

In the highly unlikely event that Conte could be tempted, there would have to be a complete overhaul of the recruitment structure.

Transfer-wise, he's about as demanding a manager as there's ever been, and Brands is not capable of delivering what he'd want.

Having thought about this some more - there is no point having the director of football model if we don’t use it, so Brands should have the final say.

That would mean there would be no point in Benitez, Moyes or managers that like complete control and no point in a big name short term answer like Conte (not that he’d come).

You would think Brands would lean to a Potter or a Howe (who I don’t dislike). Maybe a bit underwhelming but it at least would feel like a plan.
