Dont think Bruce has outshone him , its hard to do comparisons season to season taking into account money spent and how other teams have shaped up as last season any one have money on the dark side losing 6 on the bounce at home or us losing nearly every other week at home.
An out of work manager gets offered millions to go to china with remit to keep team in top division but of course loads would turn it down, again im not backing him for the job but there has to be some sort of balance.
Also, his remit when he went to China was to establish the team in the top 5/6. He led them into a relegation battle and survived via a playoff.

It’s the lull before the storm mate, they’re trying to concoct an announcement that won’t have most of the fan base seething.

Am not even sure how they could spin it mate, I think if its going to be him we will genuinely hear nothing until the first game of the season and he will just be in the dugout.

No reveal, apology or otherwise would actually stop the inevitable fume.

Benitez must the most arrogant and greedy tosser there could possibly be to even think about taking over at Everton. He can't be blind to the fans attitude towards him - he's hated by most Everton fans. Even the feelings of the RS fans are that he is going to ruin his standing with them. So he must just think "f*** 'em, they're only fans and they don't matter."
Is he doing it to prove himself professionally? Well, I don't think so. He went to China - was that to prove himself? Obviously not.
So there's only one possible motivation that he has and it's money, pure greed.
Moshiri, Usmanov or whoever is making the decision - you're about to stand in the biggest , most rancid pile of s***e imaginable and you'll never get rid of the smell it will leave.
I don't think that is correct.
I think he will certainly get work again and earn as much as he will at Everton. I expect if the Newcastle job were to become vacant it would be his for the taking.

I just think he is a bloody minded difficult, probably arrogant man.
I feel that he may not have as much love for Liverpool FC as some imagine as I feel he may be the kind to harbour a grudge still from when he was sacked by them. I think he may continually trying to prove a point to himself or somebody else.

I think he is a football manager first and last and that is what defines him as a person.

Bruce has finished higher in the last 2 seasons, than benitez did while he was there. Bruce also signed saint maximin. Who is better than any of Benitez' signings while there. He has also spent on average, the same amount per year as Benitez did. (Joelinton is included in that but isn't a Bruce signing as negotiations were already underway before Bruce was manager)

At Napoli he took them out the CL
At Real he lasted 6months
At Newcastle he took them down
In China he finished bottom

These are all cold hard facts.
So now list his successes to balance it out and none of this it wasn't his team he took over the winning team etc or it was 40 years ago , every manager has crap on his CV

He did nothing out the ordinary.

He won trophies at clubs he should have won trophies at, when faced with a difficult task, which Everton is, he failed.

There is nothing in his CV to suggest he can turn this club around.

I'm not bothered about historic success. You have to adapt and he hasn't been able to. Football then and now has changed.

Fair play to you if ou want to suffer through yet more negative football, but I don't.

This is laughably one-sided.
Can just as easily do the other side:

At Valencia he won the league twice
At Liverpool he won the Champions League and FA Cup
At Chelsea he won the Europa League and got them in the CL when they were in danger of not qualifying
At Napoli he won the Coppa Italia and kept them in the top 4 first season
At Newcastle he got them promoted and then got them 10th when they were expected to go down.

Not arguing against the stuff you've said - that's all true - but it's ridiculously harsh to only list those bad bits

I listed his last 4 jobs.

There is nothing in his recent history that suggests his methods of management work.

He even plays an outdated system, he will not be respected by the players, the fans or probably even his wife.

Perhaps but then Benitez falls out with owners over not having money to spend.

I think they'll be money to spend just not the kind that would get you a Conte so they think Benitez would be more likely to compete for Europe/trophies than the likes of Nuno and Favre and you can see why in regards to their respective CV's.

I don't think anyone outside of a select few would have made the fanbase happy and united coming on board Benitez or not.

Im happy to give whoever a chance as Ancelotti came here and was dog muck so im not judging until I've seen what the new bloke does in season 1.
Whoever gets the Everton job needs to have money to spend or really they are at nothing.

I expect that what is being agreed now is the spending budgets, the management structure in the club in particular the role for Duncan, if any. The relationship between Brands and Benitez. These are the issues which determine how the club will be run during the term of the next manager.

I think at this stage there is little doubt it will be Benitez, the media have just stopped talking about Everton as I assume they are just waiting for the announcement.

You could say that about any manager at a top team that they should win trophies but it doesn't always happen but because its him it was a given , need to stop this now before i get called Benitez son, brother ,best mate , best mates friend

genuinely find it hard to stomach Blues half defending him in any way!!

Im not saying that you want him and i can see your effort at striking balance but just why?

He may play with what he has at his disposal so god help us, i think he will be respected by the players but again none of them respected the last 5 so what's new and "supposedly " his wife loves him and his money
