I said above I think it's a bloody minded assertion of power by the owner. This is him saying its his toy and he'll break it if he wants.

All ive ever seen him being is insecure mate, hes wilted on fanbase view of Martinez, Koeman, Allardyce and Silva - costing us 10s of millions in the process. Its no way to run a football club. If he sticks by his previous behavior Rafael will be gone in a year. I actually think appointing him is a surprise and a change of behavior there is nothing in the owners historical behavior that suggests he wont cave into the popular opinion on Rafael once its done. Makes the whole thing just illogical to my mind. Unless he is saying to himself Rafael is my man regardless, of what fans think, that would be change. I just haven't seen that in his decision making as yet - so the whole thing look lunacy from the outset and another big 10 mill in sacking compo waiting to happen.

the prophets of doom all speaking with such confidence of how awful the football is going to be. If you didn't know his record, you'd never believe we are getting one of the most successful managers in the modern game. And signed some of the best players in the world, Torres Mascherano Alonso Bellamy. He is not the clapped out old duffer being described. He's had a hugely successful career. I wouldn't mind if there were other successful candidates waiting in the wings. But there is nobody. We will be lucky to get him, because make no mistake the club is in deep trouble. The players are all at daggers drawn with each other, we finished the season the worst team in the division. If we don't have a strong character we could well go down next year.

I think you need to take a look at his transfer history and re-evaluate.

Here

Signing Torres, Mascherano and Alonso is nothing special. They were well known quality players already.

He got Sterling in, that's a good one Dirk Kuyt did a decent job, Agger and Reina were good but not cheap or anything. other than that though what are we looking at here?

Aquilani for 17m? Glenn Johnson for 17.5m? 19m wasted on Robbie Keane? 6.7m on Jermaine Pennant?

Anyone can sign already boss players especially at a club like Liverpool, there is no skill in that.

3rd place finish and a Europa League. Semi Finals of both the league and FA Cup too.

As I've said before Rafael was actually the choice to manage the club the summer before, but because DiMatteo won the champions league, they stuck with him, waiting for a blip in form to get rid. Roman actually wanted to give Rafael a further 2 year contract and remains on very good terms with him.

As for the fans, they all respect Rafael a lot more now and they actually wanted him to take over when Lampard was sacked.
This is getting absolutely ridiculous now.

Come on you've had a bit of fun , a decent run with 5 minutes publicity for the fat kopite .......now f off.

Tbf We've gone from appointing Alladyce & Silva to Ancelotti & Benitez since Usmanov announced to the FT that he is coming on board with the club.

That is a step up in fairness - now lets see what dough we have to spend this summer.

If only that were true - if this abomination is imposed on us-we'll have had our voices taken from us. it'll be moshiris New Everton fc. were fans are irrelevant and opinions dont matter.

I dont think he will last mate. Moshiri is insecure in my opinion he always bends to fans will, its happened with all his managers, he should be stronger but hes just not.

The big worry for me, is we have a team of bottlers in the main anyway, if the atmosphere is toxic next season and it most likely will be our players will melt and we will tumble down the league, that's my big worry.

So when are you signing your contract for us then you blubbering whale

how many people really think that an ex-lfc manager could have brought our first trophy in 26 years?
My worry isn't even ex-lfc... That was so long ago. The real worry is if you ask the same question, but change it to

"How many people really think an ex-newcastle untied and dalian pro manager could have brought our first trophy in 26 years?"

That shows you what a poor appointment it is.

All of them respect him now? That's a huge sweeping statement. And also not true.

Roman may like him, Uzzy may like him, but Roman learnt that if the fans don't, then it won't work.

I'm not talking about revenue and boycotts. Ilm talking about ground protests and the use of social media to create turmoil.

The appointment of Benitez will cause a major rupture.
I don't agree Dave.
The crowds will return to Goodison when they are allowed.
There won't be protests on any significant level.
Supporters will generally be unhappy about his appointment but will go to the game and support the team..... for an initial period at least .

I may be wrong but reading the posts many of those most strongly opposed seem to be American supporters or else maybe the American expressions are taking over GOT in a kind of americanism pandemic.

Benitez, unlike other new managers, will not have a period of grace from supporters and if initial results are poor then it will get nastier for him far quicker than for any other new manager but if he does make some good signings and gets some decent early results then it will be interesting to see the reaction to him here in a few weeks.

Maybe I am wrong.... time will tell.... if he is appointed, which I think is likely.

Said it a while back: he's our Jesus Gil. A loose cannon.

I think he did his own thing on sackings rather than cave in to fans. He expects quick resukts like fans do, but his view of who should be in charge diverges with ours at times: Allardyce, Benitez (Silva wasn;t welcome by the majority).

HE picked them though.
Maybe he did. This does seem to be showing who really owns us as a sponsor wouldn't be involved in such decisions. I have just heard a rumour that the only reason he hasn't been presented as our manager yet is because he is in quarantine after being called to meet Usmanov. If this is true let's hope that he backs him with what is required to turn the squad around.

Moshiri is no longer in control mate.

Both Ancelotti and Benitez are Usmanov appointments.
