Why would Rafael hire Carroll who he's never managed. Shelvey who he benched and who complained that Rafael actually made him work for the first time in training.

Rafael very rarely signs ex players.

You come across as very well sourced, so will you be commiting to a definate day/time when he signs his contract ?

You do wonder, what Usmanov has said to Benitez, and what Benitez has said to Usmanov. We know Ancelotti was making clear he wanted to compete for honours. I'd guess that of the names suggested only Benitez has said the same.

Benitez has been desperate for the Newcastle job back for years. He's not in a position to make demands.

not sure you can say that it is mainly American Toffees! Quite a sweeping statement.

apart from that yes, crowds will return which will purely be down to end of this period of banned gatherings and strong desire for normality, not in anyway due to FSW and i cant wait to see it full again.

you are right, if appointed his grace period will be very short. I still think Derby in November will be the most toxic ever.

have we ever been in a situation where people want a manager gone before even appointed, Allardyce maybe but nowhere near this level

he will never be accepted by many, me included.
DL.
if it came across as mostly American supporters then I phrased it badly.
There is a lot of unhappiness amongst local supporters as well of course.
I never saw it coming, I thought it would have been a step too far given his past history with Everton.

It is a bold move by management.... let's hope it isn't a stupid one as well.

Looking back it's weird that they sacked Di Matteo. He won two trophies in the first half a season he managed, and he'd started the next one pretty well. They were 3rd when he got the boot but he had pretty much got them eliminated from the CL.

It's not really that weird considering he was only ever meant to be a stop gap.

Lost the charity shield. Lost the Super cup. Knocked out in the group stage of the Champions league. League form dipped.

If anything i'd say it's probably the opposite. Those who are a little more removed from it are maybe less bothered than those who actually live the derby rivalry on a daily basis, and who will be the ones sitting in the ground watching the turgid football and being surrounded by an atmosphere ranging from dead to angry depending on the situation. My dad (from Gateacre, not Green Bay) has hardly missed a game for about 50 years, he told me the other day that he's considering not renewing his season ticket for this year, the first time I can ever recall him even thinking about it. Literally the only thing that might stop me from jacking it in is knowing that at his age, if he stops then there's a good chance he'll never start again, and I don't want to have already gone to Goodison with him for the last time.
Like you mate, me Dad and his Dad all from L4, Grandad is buried in Anfield Rd Cemetery, my old man is frail and doesnt go now and I'm in Midlands so get to about 6 or 7 games a season but always with my kids, so they "get it" my lad is defo in love with the Toffees as much as I am but hearing you say that about your Dad is quite telling and quite a sad appraise of where we are as a club.

How bad is it when we get the owner with cash, a fantastic stadium to look forward to that we cant get stuff right on the pitch or management to allow us to enjoy that!

Hope your Dad doesn't give it up but can see his viewpoint and I sincerely hope its not the last time either of us go with respective Dad's.

all the best lad!
