It's that kind of thinking though that baffles me. Rather than rushing to get a signing in the door to take the heat off the fans reaction to the new manager, appoint a differed manager that won't cause such division and outrage.

Ah well, I'm becoming slightly numb to it now. I'll never back him at this club.
I'm with you, brother. This club loves a thinly veiled PR cover up though. Every piece of bad news is followed up with a stadium announcement!

No idea why hes still keeping up the façade
They know we know the hallmarks but even then theyre too thick to maintain the flimsy masquerade. I said it years ago on here, they all conform in time : the persistent subtle then flagrant praise of all things RS, the PowerPoint stats references to bygone RS bit part players, the passive-aggressive "go on then, why??" prodding and questioning when called out. Unfortunately, their flushing out denies us the cloven hoof/swishing tail ultimate reveal that we deserve.

irritating article today suggesting that we, as a non-big-six club, would be lucky to get the FSW!

Sigh, it was inevitable that the recent manager of Newcastle and Dalian would be presented as too good for us. Journalism, yay.

Has he ever publicly said disparaging comments about them or acted in a way that tarnishes their view of him? If he has, I haven't personally seen it.

For many RS, he is held in high regard for their CL success.
I don't think that he has, but then I don't think he was likely to do so.
But, taking the Everton job is hardly the action of somebody who wants to preserve his reputation at Everton.

Liverpool fans would not be expected to like an Everton manager but if he is successful at Everton they will hate Benitez.

I'm not sure I understand the first para of your post.

If you mean a Benitez appointment I agree.

However if Brands explained that we want to appoint a young manager who will revamp the squad but it will take time I think the fan base would buy into it.

2nd para agree.

I mean any appointment. If it's not Rafael, they'll get 12 months. Then the following season if we're not top 5 by Xmas, people will want them out.

We are crap to be fair to ‘Sporting Life’, bastion of journalistic integrity that I’m sure they are.
Benitez is absolutely beneath us on recent performances though.

Circumstantial though. In a close league if we were playing very exciting football and building a team I’d take being a few points off Europa at xmas season 2. Playing crap football and being fifth because we fluked a few games isn’t so great, ask Sheffield United a season on!
