This really. Everyone is getting upset because of the ‘small club‘ jibe....but tbh at the time he was probably right. Those of us who have been around long enough know that we were the big club and the RS were the little club, but times changed, they won a load of trophies and we messed about, we had a great time in the 80’s, then one cup, one bleeding cup in years. I’m as proud an Evertonian as any on here and have seen it all, but if the club think Rafael is the man then who the hell are we to disagree. I still think a.n.o. will be lined up, but if it’s Rafael then so be it.....
FFS mate it's not just the humiliation of the small club jibe
It's not just fact that he a horrible RS snide whose fallen out with every Club
It's not just the fact that he's a dinosaur manager who plays dour turgid football
It's not just that he's a has been
It's not just that he's a master of deflection and a classic kopite whose always the victim
It's not just that he's going to split this club asunder....
It's all those fing things....what's not to get ?

They're not floating an idea, they're going to do it - unless something dramatic happens. How do you know club hasn't briefed anyone?
Because it’s incredibly obvious. Look at who’s written the articles and when, they have none of the hallmarks of an Everton briefing and none of the consistency of a deliberate story plant. I know they’re not floating an idea, that was literally my point. I’m telling you as somebody who literally makes a living doing this that what you’re saying is an absolutely laughable comms strategy. You’re welcome to disagree of course, but it won’t make you any less wrong.

If you look at Moyes's record against the top clubs, then Benitez was spot on. That doesn't mean, 14 years later, Benitez is the right man for Everton.

In my professional opinion, yes. What you’re talking about - effectively floating an idea to see how it goes down - is common, but clearly hasn’t happened in this case. The press have not been briefed on this by the club, that is incredibly obvious. The stories have come from people close to Benitez, not the club. What the club are doing appears to be akin to treating your partner like crap in the hope that they get the message and finish you so you don’t have to do it yourself, it’s dreadful from a comms point of view.

Seems like you work in PR, can I ask, does anything the club have done over the last 3-4 weeks make any sense?

Do you think they even consult PR people?

What's incredibly obvious? How do you know not a single journalist has been briefed by the club that Benitez is a candidate for the job? Because you work in PR?
