So Brands is a fraud for signing a new 3 yr deal and accepting those conditions?

You cant fully blame the owners and give sympathy to Brands in that scenario which is what our fanbase seem to be doing.
I had sympathy with him until he signed that new deal. You could argue he didn't know what he was getting into with the first contract but now he knows exactly what the deal is now. I don't blame him for taking the cash but sympathy? No.

If we stand still, in all honesty we will qualify for Europe with 59 points. Anything less than European qualification will be grounds for sacking the manager IMO.
Agree but the narrative on twitter is it's a safe appointment designed to keep us safe until BMD. I don't buy that for two reasons, one he has a record the board will be expecting results also given his history if we weren't doing well by Christmas he could be gone because the fans will turn very very quickly on him since a large section don't want him anyway. Never mind the end of the season or in eighteen months.

If the stadium has now become Everton's reason to exist and is going to be an excuse for us continuing to tread water and for every dreadful board room decision then maybe it's best we don't have it? Can anyone name a team who went from also ran to contender purely because of a new stadium? I can't think of a single one but I can think of examples of teams that went backwards after the construction of a new home, Arsenal being the obvious one.
If Benitez is appointed, I hope we just build the stadium as soon as possible and then Moshiri can sell up make lots of dough the feck rar off and take his fat Uzbecki mate with him.

I've been prepared to give Moshiri the benefit of the doubt since he took over. This changes everything.

After getting promotion with Newcastle, Benitez finished 10th then 13th in the following two seasons winning 12 games in both seasons, what in the world is the board thinking of here
he got them promoted and then kept them midtable on a negative net spend. At the same time we've thrown £400m down the plughole.

he got them promoted and then kept them midtable on a negative net spend. At the same time we've thrown £400m down the plughole.

Moyes had a negative net spend over a decade with us and regularly finished in Europe and didn’t relegate us. Finishing mid table with Newcastle and winning the Championship with the most expensive squad in the history of the division isn’t an achievement.

It really is though. Managers want job security too. Particularly at the end of their career and if they get to be close to their families. Convince yourself otherwise if you wish.
As has been said earlier, what on Earth are the board thinking here? “Rafael lad, can you just mind the shop for a couple of years, don’t change anything, don’t introduce any new ideas, just coast along until you retire”
I don’t want that for my club.
