No but it was Carlo's first full season coming in after he inherited a team who had 14 points from 15 games. If Carlo would have got less than 59 points next season, I think he'd be in hot water, as any other manager should be.

So if we come 8th next season with a better home record but miss Europa do you think he should be sacked?
Benitez has a very easy act to follow, unfortunately

I think he would. This is nothing more than a convenience to him. He only took the Newcastle job on because his daughter went to University there. He’s only taking the Everton job on because the club is located nearby to where he lives.

love how everyone thinks we need to get a manager who is suddenly going to change us into free flowing football champions league contenders. koeman and Martinez appear to have gone onto better things, both of which were considered by some as not good enough for us. Throw Ancelloti in as well. Dont get me wrong I cant stand Rafael but whoever takes this job is going to have to withstand these unrealistic expectations. Rafael wont last because he will already be starting from a difficult position in that most of the crowd hate him.

Think a lot of this only surfaces when we are not winning to be honest. If we are winning then the vast majority are happy... Personally I'm not really bothered as long as we have an effective team with a bit of metal.

Torres, Alonso and Mascherano were already well known names. Garcia wasn't that good and is know mainly for a ghost goal, Bellamy, Aurelio and Arbeloa. Really? And he didn't even sign Barry!
