Good points mate, especially about the risk about the up and coming guy even though I still think that is better for us in the long run if we could actually find him.
Alonso was a good player I envied. He tends to spend a lot if he gets his way. A bit of a scattergun rather than sharp eye IMO. I think we have suffered from this over the last 5 years or so.
I am pretty sure his default style is pretty defensive. How do you feel about that if it is Allardyce type footy?
Ah, you ask the 64 million dollar question there mate.
Yes, I can’t pretend that I’d be happy with allardyce style football, and Benitez is inherently defensive. Some managers adapt a little especially following criticism of their style, but Benitez may be too old and too stuck in his ways for that.
What I’d hope for though would be that he might be able to stop us leaking poor goals and some of his abrasive character and winners mentality might rub off on the team of lazy, spineless primadonnas that we saw this season.
I’m not honestly sure that he’s be a good appointment in terms of playing style, but it would surprise me if it was any worse than some of what we’ve seen recently.
It’s galling really, but the reality is that apart from a few games under big Joe with the likes of Kanchelskis and Limpar when we looked quite slick, and the first Martinez season where we actually dominated other sides, we haven’t played the type of football that the Catterick and Kendall sides were famed for since those bygone days. It’s a long time ago though, and so if Benitez comes in and puts a bit of steel into this lot, then I for one will forgive the lack of adventurous football…for a while anyway.
Having said all that, I wouldn’t mind seeing Potter at the helm. I think he’d build an attractive looking side. Problem is that the owners won’t risk a bad season and a flirt with relegation before the new stadium is there. Too much of a risk to their investment at this point I guess.

After the perpetual club mismanagement I'm honestly just apathetic and numb to this tainted appointment. I'm just dead inside when it comes Everton hopefully that changes , but that's my current state

There’s a job for you at Burger King. They’re missing a Whopper.

How would ‘starting the manager search off again from square one” be worse than appointing an out-dated dinosaur with his best years well behind him whose potential appointment has caused so much discontent? Why do you think there are only 6-7 managers in the World?

You think we have world class managers knocking down our door.

I dont even think Burger King would take you on fella.

Never thought I'd see the day when blue would turn on blue so they could support a red, yet here we are. Sad sad day, unfortunately there is only one way this club goes now. Its the same for any club once the happy clapping, always support the club brigade get on top, they inevitably happy clap it into oblivion.
Any blue turning on another blue is a bad thing. You attacking the “happy clappers” and criticising fans for always supporting the club is just as bad as any Everton fan turning on a fan as they don’t support a potential new manager.

I also say this as a fan not wanting or expecting benitez to be in charge but I’d not attack other fans for wanting him or anyone else as we’re all entitled to have an opinion on the club we’ve suffered through so many bad seasons yet still support them no matter what.
