Mate we spent half a billion pound over a few years to be a 10-12th side. Very unfair to be expecting any manager to be getting us Europe after a window.
He doesn't have to get us Europe but it would be a good progression, with such an easy act to follow it wont be hard to show signs of progress, simple decent home form to start with.
The damage has been done by Brands and previous managers, cant really blame Rafael for the state we are currently in.

But they will.

Of course there is a risk - we were in the bottom 3 under both Koeman and Silva and in all honesty Silva would have taken us down no question in my mind we were getting humped by kin Norwich.

I don't like the current situation but I have to accept otherwise this club is in trouble - we have a board of idiots, a luvvy chairman, a squad of snails with hardly any fight and desire, we cant go out and throw £200 million on new players and we are appointing a manager who the fans largely dont like.

Us fans will play a big part next season and if we go into crying and demanding we play like Man City under Anorim, Howe or some other hipster manager then the pressure gets amplified on Benitez and if he fails I honestly dont see where we go from there.

The end game is Bramley Moore Dock - if we can get Europe or win a trophy on the way there then brilliant that should be the aim but we simply can not afford to end up in the situation we were under Koeman and Silva.

We need to build foundations at this club because its a mess at the moment on and off the pitch and if the owners think that man is Benitez (who has still won 3 trophies in the last 10 years how many have Everton won in that period) then we have to suck it up its that simple.

I aint no super bloo the club are a mess and I call them out a lot but now aint the time - the time should be gutting this squad of players and bringing in pace and power and actual quality not the current circus of "eh lad lets h8 Benitez mate lolz get dis up banner mate hahaha"

We haven't been near relegation in about 17 or 18 years. The times people say we are going down are usually in about October after a poor start and it's never proven close to being correct. The idea we were going down under Silva or Koeman is a load of utter nonsense - no offence lol

If relegation is a concern then they might as well not bother because they are never going to bring success to the club.

I stand by what I said.... there are always 3 or 4 terrible sides in this league and 3 or 4 more with no level of consistency at all. If someone took us down, it would be one of the worst jobs in the history of football. There is a reason we haven't gone down in about 65 years. It's not because we are a good side, because we definitely aren't. But it's down to the fact there are so many worse sides out there.

Are you a parody account ?

“Kin Norwich … now ain’t the time”

then mocking

“Eh lad … get dis banner up “

There is zero risk of the team being relegated. Most fans could manage Everton and avoid relegation. It would take a monumentally horrific job to see us go down - literally one of the worst in the history of football.

If relegation is actually a concern then I seriously give up
Under Benitez I'm not so sure. It's certainly possible we can get worse. After all if our brilliant 1970 side was capable of going from champions to 14th the following season (collecting only the present day equivalent of 37 pts from the 42 games played in those days) then this current side is well capable of a similar decline.

Moyes did with imo an inferior squad. I get what you’re saying but they’ll be serious bloodletting if benitez delivers a replica of ancelotti’s season - he quite simply won’t get the honeymoon period. Can you imagine the mood at goodison if the bottom three all come and take the three points whilst he’s in charge - doesn’t bare thinking about.

i say this and I’m personally not averse to the appointment- I don’t buy into the “he’s a busted flush” argument but he starts at a serious disadvantage to any other new manager.

my hope is that moshiri/usmanov understand this and are prepared to back benitez with serious cash - if they don’t then i’ll be joining those with the pitchforks as id see it as an utterly moronic appointment

Benitez will be gone by Christmas, the idiots running this club will do what they always do. Make a poor managerial appointment, then panic, fail to back the guy and then sack him after a really poor run of results before he's even had a chance to do anything long term. Basically they're just going to waste everyone's time and nobody will benefit from this other then Benitez and his bank balance. We're run by total and utter morons.

there is no arguing with this, I cant believe some of the blerts on here thinking we are a regular top six team, we have the potential to be, but that's all it is, and like it or lump it, Rafael is the best we can do at the moment.
We had a Hollywood manager, and he dropped us first chance he got, and the definition of insanity is doing the same thing again and again but expecting a different outcome
