Think the China thing can largely be ignored to be honest.

The more I read about it, the more it's apparent that he was paid a packet to overhaul their squad and promote the youth. He did that in one fell swoop last season and results suffered in the short term (hence the low PPG) because the risk of them being relegated wasn't there. He walked because, evidently, he didn't want to hang around on the other side of the world whilst Covid was going on.
He almost relegated them, they survived via a playoff. Was that the plan at that club? We definitely can't ignore China. If nothing else. it shows he's a mercenary.

Reckon they’re working on a ‘message to the fans’ video for when it’s confirmed.
Something along the lines of an apology for his comments which upset some of our fans 15 years ago, distancing himself from them across the park and something about us being a big club in England and wanting to be successful and get us back up there. Might win a few more over if he did that.

If he throws in that Iwobi and Sigurdsson are frauds and their services won’t be required next season he’ll probably have everyone on board.
Someone said here already that if he comes in and pretends he's not a dirty Kopite then he's off to a lying start.. best thing to say is that he was Liverpool manager enjoyed his time there and still holds Liverpool in high regard and he likes the City and it's people.. at least it would be the truth and he'd get more respect for that.

The only people who know when they are going to announce it is Everton and that could be literally anytime. Still think they might do it today to tie in with the England game. Nothing more than a gut feeling that though.

31 points, if a manager comes in and finishes 31 points worse off than the previous manager then the club is doomed anyway and we might as well liquidate.

Our squad isn't great but it's not as bad as some people on here would have us believe. If relegation is realistically on the radar then Moshiri, Brands, DBB et al. really have dropped the baby.
I agree with the current squad - would be a really poor managerial performance to be embroiled in a relegation scrap with them - for all their faults.

My point was more of a wider one - the moneyed six aren’t ever going down - they earn at least £200m more than the other 14 - everyone else is in danger if their recruitment (players and managers) is garbage for a sustained period

I keep hearing about him being sacked..... that is not going to happen, or at least not for quite some time.

Moshiri has gone out on a limb to appoint him as manager. He will probably appoint the one manager that is almost universally disliked by Evertonians , he certainly knows that and is still prepared to go ahead.

There is a far better chance that Benitez will leave if results are poor and fans at matches are hostile( although I don't think he is the leaving kind) than there is of him being sacked by Moshiri.

This is not an rash appointment , CA is gone with a month and it is clear that others managers have been spoken to as well.

This is Moshiri's man, he has gone against the wishes of the fans to appoint him and in my opinion will not get rid of him easily.
This is my worry. Benitez will have a free pass now, Moshiri will be desperate to show that he was right to appoint him after all of the opposition. If the morale is sucked out of the club that is the only way I can see us being in any danger.

Mate, you joined the forum three weeks ago to talk exclusively about Benitez but you are accusing me of being a troll. Lol.
again making stuff up, I joined a few weeks ago because I was concerned about our next manager. I'm not a fan of Rafael, to be honest if it was up to me I would have taken the risk and gone after Potter, but the owner seems to want Rafael, and whoever pays the piper calls the tune. As fans just have to make the best of it

Spot on this - my hope is that it manifests itself in moshiri providing some serious funds else he’s going to look very stupid when it blows up in his face
