The only people who know when they are going to announce it is Everton and that could be literally anytime. Still think they might do it today to tie in with the England game. Nothing more than a gut feeling that though.
Why would you be so ashamed of this appointment that you wanted to brush it under the carpet.
If Morishi thinks he has pulled off a coup in getting a top quality manager surely he and our sponsors will want to garner maximum publicity.

Well thats down to the fanbase as much the manager himself. If the fans just want the bloke to fail then you, I and everyone else on here suffers as a result of that.

I would much rather the fans support the side and make GP a fortress - if he does crap at least then he's booted and its clear the ownership got it wrong without the excuse of "the fans made the place toxic from day one".

As I said mate if it aint Benitez its still going to be someone cheap and dour we wont be bringing in some maverick or a Conte that everyone wants - Benitez failing mid season would be a disaster as I honestly wouldnt rule out Alladyce coming back in especially if we were bottom 3.
As opposed to Benitez, who will be very expensive and dour, he was dour in his prime and let’s be honest most of his future is behind him at this stage.

Well I wouldn’t because he’s not my preferred choice. But given the options available to us I can see why the club have gone for him based on him being the most experienced of the lot.

Every manager linked with the job comes with risks the arguments being made again this manager can be made against others.

I just don’t get this notion that we are entitled to have another top manager here like we did with Carlo - who we were very fortunate to get given the circumstances. Who in their right mind would give up the successes at their current clubs to come and work for an owner who dismisses you after 18 months, fans who turn their back on you after a couple of home defeats and a squad assembled by multiple different managers who mostly don’t give a crap about the club.

Given we are being run by two billionaire owners it’s not beyond the possibility that perhaps we tried looking at a bigger name appointment again but were met with a no ‘thank you’ to all?
We should stop chasing "names" altogether and look to build something with a talented young manager. I would accept 14th place if we were prepared to do that. It's essentially what Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig do and it's working out fine for them. Our billionaire owners lack imagination and believe throwing money at "names", both players and managers, will get us to the promised land. Maybe it will, what do I know, but it isn't working at the moment.

The two main points that get thrown out by Benitez loving fans.

1) you only don't want him cause of small club comment
2) if you don't want benitez then you must want howe.

Zero insight whatsoever.

...dont forget the 3rd classic

3) Theres no one else in the entire world aside from 4 or 5 managers we could have a chance at getting and 'Rafael'* is the best of the bunch.

*calling Benitez Rafael is Kopite behaviour.

Don't forget:

3. He's the best manager we can get from the thousands of coaches in world football.

Who else is there? We aren’t the only club currently looking for a new manager. You only need to look at Tottenham and their search for a manager to see what’s currently on offer, Palace if you want to include them.

No matter who the club appoint it’s going to be met with disappointment, just this one comes with more because of his previous ties with them across the park and that he hasn’t set the world alight since he left there.

Says it all when out of all the candidates we have been linked with I would have just been happy with Nuno and even then I think it’s a massive risk, the options are rubbish and tbf given our current status as circus club it’s what we deserve.

The Geordies seem to think that Benitez had some kind of leading role in their failed attempt to get taken over by the Saudis. I'd be quite happy if we got took over by the Saudis somewhere along the line; buy everyone and dominate for decades.

believe what you want and keep waving you fist at the clouds, if memory serves me correctly, when I came here Nuno was the favourite for the job, but don't let the facts get in the way of your ranting
Ranting, interesting. Laying out my reasons for not wanting "Rafael" is ranting, you seem to be the one getting your knickers in a twist about anyone having a differing opinion to you. You reluctantly want "Rafael" because you believe that he is the best we can get, you're definitely not a Koppite, you joined three weeks ago to share your insights on the appointment of NES. Got it. I respectfully disagree with all of what you are saying.
