A big name with football pedigree (whether you like it or not) and who is more local than many on this website, is Rafael Benitez. Go for him. You know exactly what you are getting. No insults please.
Yes we know what we’re getting. Dinosaur football from a kopite bell - no thanks.
The only big names mentioned that sound good would be Conte but sounds like he’s off to Spurs or Sarri.

There is potential with Potter. I'd prefer that to a steady eddie. He seems to be a student of the game, a thinker. Someone who might have a vision of where we could be in three or four years, and how to get there. .

People always seem to prefer the continental equivalent of guys like him. But his existing experience in this league would be a bonus. He is worthy of consideration in my opinion. I'd imagine the job would be hugely appealing to him

he’s crap

On the subject of Potter, there's this from his Wikipedia page:

I don't mind the idea of Potter, I'm not super excited about it either, but he'd go down like a lead balloon in here.
I agree, he'd be seen as underwhelming. If it were to come to pass, a lot would depend on how he talked and sold himself in the first few weeks. I knew little about Moyes when he came in, but his first press conference when the made the peoples club comments, it was transformative. I could see Potter in the same light.

Conceicao seems to be getting a few mentions the last 24 hrs or so, He is used to working with a squad of misfits and would certainly not stand for any strollers like Gylfi.

Posting this, for what its worth. Tifo Football uploaded this to supplement that article The Atheltic published last year about the events that occurred around Ancelotti's appointment. Some interesting stuff here and some of it could still even come to pass given recent events..

They said he was offered a “huge transfer war chest” yet he was given no funds in January when he arrived and we were one of the lowest spenders in the summer. Hmm...
