Potter took over the Swedish team Østersund in 4 division, and spent 4 years leading them up to the top division. In the debut season, they came in 8th place, and eventually they won the Swedish Cup. He then led them to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa League. Østersund had a rather limited budget compared to their competitors. It was a fantastic achievement.

Yet people act like what Eddie Howe did with Bournemouth isn't just as impressive, or more so. I don't think he's the right man for our job but I think he deserves a lot more respect

I think the main reasons most people don’t like on here is because he bought loads of dross from the RS for mega money and he’s a bit of a wet blanket

What he did at Bournemouth was outstanding... but is he the man to take us back to competing at the top... probably not

Posting this, for what its worth. Tifo Football uploaded this to supplement that article The Atheltic published last year about the events that occurred around Ancelotti's appointment. Some interesting stuff here and some of it could still even come to pass given recent events..

Niko Kovac could be an outsider you know.

He was at Goodison in December 2019 after we sacked Silva;

The day after that, Ancelotti was sacked.

If Kovac was a potential, it went the minute Ancelotti become available.

Wonder if he feels chinned off. He might of been offered a decent package to be dropped like a hot potato for Carlo.

Literally don’t know what he’s done since. Will head to wiki to find out.

Don't see him mentioned much but I quite like the look of Paulo Fonseca. Won quite a few trophies and looks a bit of a team builder.

Anyone is a gamble though either way.
Moshiri wanted him when he was at Shakhtar but wasn't able to get him. Now he's a free agent surely he'll be approached.

People will rightly or wrongly remember that his last act at Bournemouth was getting them relegated.

There is potential with Potter. I'd prefer that to a steady eddie. He seems to be a student of the game, a thinker. Someone who might have a vision of where we could be in three or four years, and how to get there. .

People always seem to prefer the continental equivalent of guys like him. But his existing experience in this league would be a bonus. He is worthy of consideration in my opinion. I'd imagine the job would be hugely appealing to him

I don't mind the idea of Potter, I'm not super excited about it either, but he'd go down like a lead balloon in here.

I think we have probably moved on from trying to find a young manager to come in and do what HK did.
There is too much money and pressure involved.
We need somebody of a certain stature and a winner. If they are going to take a chance on anybody without a proven track record of success then it will probably be Duncan.

Get that Harry Potter fella - The Grand Old Lady can be renamed "Gryffindor" for the last 15 years we will still be there, at the rate the new ground is progressing.
