He was linked for the job before Ancelotti got it and turned down Barca not long back as well.

Do you not like South American football(ers) or something ?

All the good ones have moved on out of those leagues the standard of competition is average compared to the Premier League.

And if Gallardo turns down Barcelona that tells me he's happy beating bums in his weight class and doesn't want to take on a challenge.

I haven't followed Wolves very closely, but I do remember the 1-3 win at Goodison, where they looked really well organised, back to front and beat us handily. I'm sure if we went back to that match thread, we'd see Nuno coming in for enormous praise.

There was obviously a sustained period where Nuno had them performing well, with back-to-back 7th place finishes.

It obviously went horribly wrong this season, but as others have said, I think losing Jimenez in that way, plus Podence etc was extremely unlucky.

I've been looking for the arguments behind why it wouldn't be a good appointment, but there haven't really been many amongst the fume.

Galtier's only previous experience of English football was as an assistant coach at Portsmouth, and like others on this list being a free agent could easily lead Everton to consider him.

Didnt know Galtier was at Portsmouth.

Anti-Nuno sentiment is probably the result of just having an elite manager who won the CL three times and bar appointing Guardiola or Herr Klopp everyone is some degree of a step down.

In reality, should we fail to land the likes of a Conte or Mancini, Nuno has a high ceiling and seems very tactically astute and capable of guiding us to success with sufficient backing.

I'm not that excited but I wasn't by Moyes or Martinez either and they were both great for us. I say give it a chance, could be very surprised, lots of neutrals I have spoken think right person, right time, right job. Not an easy job this one, still a big mess to sort out and needs someone with a huge plan of how to go forward.
Both great for us? Martinez was horrific.

I cant wait for Gallardo to eventually move out of his comfort zone of the farmer leagues just to see the little midget flounder up against managers that are actually qualified and not part time sparks so all the footie hipsters can stop mentioning him everytime we are looking for a manager lol

Its like a heavyweight boxer bragging about his impressive record of fighting in the lightweight division.
bloody hell our fans are thick as bricks lol

Jimenez, Podence, Boly injured

Jota & Doherty sold

Not excusing last season completely as he tried to change things which led to his downfall however we seen what losing Gana and Zouma and not replacing them did to Silva in his 2nd season.

He's still an underwhelming manager but he's probably the best of a bad bunch.

Name me the top managers Gallardo is regulary pitting his wits against in the Argentinian League?

Dont be fooled Funes Mori was better than Van Dijk apparently because he scored a few headers in that league he came over to us and was miles out of his depth.

Until Gallardo has the guts to actually take on a challenge in a much stronger league and show he can still win trophies and titles he doesn't get my respect staying in a farmer league beating lesser sides and getting hyped up as being some Guardiola.

He's the football equivalent of Deontay Wilder.

Based on what?

I was pretty uninspired in the three games he was in charge and has been within the coaching since Roberto.

Im not saying he’s the problem, he’s definitely not the answer though.

Based on the fact that we were absolutely dreadful before he became caretaker boss and we had Chelsea, Man utd, Arse up next.

He managed a win and 2 draws, that in itself is a huge accomplishment that gets bizzarrely overlooked on these boards.

Carlo came in and didn't change much.

there has been a bit of noise building behind appointing Seamus as player/manager. It worked with Dalgleish at Mordor and I think Seamus is a more iconic figure.... I like the Vitor Pereira shouts as well. but some of the football-savvy names on here plumping for Seamus incline me toward the latter being head manager with possibly Vitor as his 2IC
