All the good ones have moved on out of those leagues the standard of competition is average compared to the Premier League.

And if Gallardo turns down Barcelona that tells me he's happy beating bums in his weight class and doesn't want to take on a challenge.
And yet this is exactly where Simeone came from.
Atletico took a chance and it paid off handsomely.
Many other successful managers have also progressed directly from these leagues.
We should take a chance to progress.
Getting Ancelotti was a freak occurrence and it bit us in the backside big time.
Top managers aren’t really interested in managing clubs of our calibre because they have nothing to prove and ,with failure, everything to lose.
Ancelotti failed because the job was too big for him and in the end he wasn’t motivated enough to continue.
We should take a risk on this appointment in the hope of high reward.
Or we can just appoint Wolves reject Santos as a safe pair hands for mid table stability.

Just seen a quote from DCL saying he was in shock and he hasn't spoke to anyone at the club about it, only the Everton players on England duty. Its is wrong of me to think that the DOF shud have made contact to reassure our best players what the plan is

What could they have said ?
‘We intend to appoint a new manager’
Does a farmer consult his sheep before he introduces a new sheepdog?

Name me the top managers Gallardo is regulary pitting his wits against in the Argentinian League?

Dont be fooled Funes Mori was better than Van Dijk apparently because he scored a few headers in that league he came over to us and was miles out of his depth.

Until Gallardo has the guts to actually take on a challenge in a much stronger league and show he can still win trophies and titles he doesn't get my respect staying in a farmer league beating lesser sides and getting hyped up as being some Guardiola.

He's the football equivalent of Deontay Wilder.
Guardiola himself called him a genius manager. In terms of managers he's gone up against, you have men like Jorge Sampaoli, former Granada manager Diego Martinez, who we are linked with and who got them into Europe. Luis Enrique, Jorge Jesus, Julio Falconi, Maurico Pellegrino. The idea a manager like Gallardo wouldn't be able to succeed in England is similar to the idea that Pep Guardiola couldn't do it in England either. He came in to River Plate, hardly bought any players while his best all left for Europe, and never missed a beat, and he came in during a time when River Plate were at their lowest.

I hoping for Favre or Gallardo or the Lille manager if we can’t get a bigger name
A bigger name will be sought after and eventually be poached of us once a bigger job comes available like what's happened with Ancelotti.

Wonder if Nuno had a conflict with the owners/board there?

It seems an extraordinary decision to let him go based on their progress under him, and allowing for last season.

They must be very confident in the chap they are appointing in his stead.

I'm in the camp where I don't have anything hugely against him getting our job, just that he strikes me as a steady appointment rather than one with the potential to do more than be just steady.

It would just seem too easy to give it to him and that time pressure is their first thought.

Does anyone think the the Board consider what the supporters would think about bringing back say Martinez or Moyes? Surely they must appreciate such an appointment would be seen largely by the Goodson faithful as a backward step and therefore negative? I wouldn’t bring back either.
Hopefully it’s just the usual lazy journalists.

But it would tell you how far detached the board are from the fans , if Moyes or Martinez got it.

You just have to look at betting for our job compared to Spurs. They have poch, ten hag, conte, Rodgers. They do have Martinez near the top of their list.

It’s unfortunately just how we’re seen in the media. Remember when we got ancelotti. And he should have gone to Arsenal and we should have got arteta.

Amazingly I heard 2 presenters/ex players on talksport on Friday saying Everton would be the better job to take at the moment

The rumour was they wanted to sell a few big players
