I could get behind Potter had they had a respectable 11th-12th place finish in the league where you can see the potential.

Potter finished one place above an injury hit Burnley. If Dyche aint good enough then neither is Potter imo.

People only want Potter for the good togger but the novelty of that soon wears off when we are sat in the bottom half 15 points off the European places.
I suspect if the man you named earlier - Maupay, had scored the goals he probably should have done last season, or had someone else score their fair share (not Danny Welbeck btw!) they would have finished at least 11th or 12th, or even god forbid above us!

Exactly this for me. If he had shown some season on season progression that would be a major tick in the box for him. It would be a major risk for Everton, not saying it wouldn’t pay off but as it stands it’s a far riskier appointment than Santo Moyes or Dyche would be.

People can use the striker excuse but Welbeck isn’t that bad a striker, and if Maupay is being selected ahead of him he can’t be and either. I can’t remember many games where they missed hosts of chances, so it’s never really as simple as a like for like swap. Most decent strikers score if given enough chances. Our two aren’t that great and have still bagged a fair few goals in teams that haven’t created much so I don’t fully buy the ‘he just needs a striker’ argument.

I watched Brighton quite a few times last season, I watched a lot of televised football, every time they played they seemed to play controlled, joined up decent football, how I wished the Everton team, apart from the first seven games played football as good as that. At times last season we were painfull to watch, but I think we were all prepared to put up with it because of the type of player Carlo could be bringing in for the season coming. A lot of times the commentators were saying, if Brighton had a striker to finish the chances they were creating they would be winning a lot more of these games. They have much better strikers at Everton and a much bigger budget, I would not be adverse to giving Potter a try, with his brand of attractive football and our strikers, plus the or four very good signings, it could well work.

Finally we can sign Danny Wellbeck.

What a summer this is going to be.

Shame their full back Bong has retired or we would all be strolling round town in our away kit with his name on.

Out of interest, how many games did Wellbeck play last year ? And to be fair neither him or Maupay have ever been prolific.

Only Moyes has shown progression out of those 3 last season, the others regressed

Not a scorer though is he. He's 30 years old and hasnt reached 50 career goals. Thats a awful strike rate.
Does a lot of donkey work though mind.
